Scaling robot learning requires large-scale, diverse demonstrations, yet real-world data collection via teleoperation remains prohibitively expensive and time-consuming. While video diffusion models offer a promising avenue for data scaling, existing generative approaches are often limited to superficial visual augmentation, or suffer from embodiment hallucinations that yield physically infeasible motions.
Robot learning must produce policies that generalize to new combinations of constraints, teammates, and environments. To achieve this, we must structurally factor the policy, which is a choice that dictates what generalizes, what requires retraining, and what remains entangled.
Diffusion-based Vision-Language-Action policies achieve remarkable success in robotic manipulation, yet commit a fundamental geometric error we term the $\textbf{Euclidean Fallacy}$: representing SE(3) poses as flat $\mathbb{R}^{12}$ vectors. This approximation induces (1) manifold drift violating SO(3) constraints, (2) broken equivariance under coordinate transformations, and (3) non-geodesic trajectories with excessive kinematic cost.
