Line-Augmented cuVSLAM: Robust Visual Odometry in Low-Texture Environments

Line-Augmented cuVSLAM extends the CUDA-accelerated visual‑SLAM system cuVSLAM by incorporating line features to improve visual odometry in low‑texture environments such as warehouses and production facilities. Lines are represented using Plücker coordinates for transport and a minimal 4‑DOF orthonormal form for optimisation, and a Cauchy‑robust point‑to‑line residual is integrated into the per‑frame Gauss‑Newton pose solve and sliding‑window bundle adjustment. The adaptive weighting allows line features to take on more of the estimation burden when point features are scarce, and the extension adds residual blocks to existing solvers rather than creating a separate estimator.

DL-VINS-Factory: A Modular Framework for Learned Visual Front-Ends in Visual-Inertial SLAM

Deep-learning features excel in visual matching, yet their practical value in tightly coupled visual-inertial SLAM (VI-SLAM) remains insufficiently characterized. We present DL-VINS-Factory, a unified framework that integrates learned feature extractors (ALIKED, RaCo, SuperPoint, XFeat) with either Lucas--Kanade (LK) optical-flow tracking or LightGlue (LG) descriptor matching.

DAVIO: Dense Monocular-Inertial SLAM with Feed-Forward Initialization and Pose-Conditioned Mapping

DAVIO is a dense monocular‑inertial SLAM system that leverages a single multi‑view depth model (Depth Anything 3) for both initialization and mapping. It starts up quickly by solving a feature‑free linear system from a five‑image window and IMU pre‑integration, then uses a VIO filter whose metric poses condition the depth model during tracking. The system corrects residual scale along viewing rays, preserves metric baselines, and refines the map with a gravity‑preserving sub‑map graph, achieving earlier start‑up, lower localization error, and more accurate dense maps than state‑of‑the‑art feed‑forward mappers on both EuRoC and building‑scale ORI datasets.

DefVINS: Visual-Inertial Odometry for Deformable Scenes

DefVINS is a visual‑inertial odometry pipeline tailored for deformable scenes, breaking the rigidity assumption of traditional VIO. It decomposes the odometry state into a rigid, IMU‑anchored component and a non‑rigid scene warp using an embedded deformation graph. The authors also introduce VIMandala, the first real‑world benchmark with ground‑truth camera poses for deformable VIO, and extend the synthetic Drunkard’s benchmark with inertial data, demonstrating that DefVINS outperforms both rigid and non‑rigid baselines.

Reading the Room: Scale-ambiguous Semantic Registration of Sparse VSLAM Maps to Floor Plans in Partially Built Environments

Reading the Room (RR) is a global‑local method that registers scale‑ambiguous, sparse semantic VSLAM maps to partially built floor plans. It introduces a single robust, differentiable, class‑balanced semantic‑geometric energy function that drives all pipeline stages, and offers two global initialization schemes—one using a single user‑provided correspondence and another using a cross‑modal matching network. Evaluated on 33 sequences from three construction sites, RR outperforms classical and learning‑based baselines, improving mean absolute trajectory error by 4.5× overall and 7.6× when an anchor is supplied.

Monocular Visual Odometry without Calibration or Test-time Optimization

The paper introduces CalfVO, a monocular visual odometry system that operates without camera intrinsics, test‑time optimization, bundle adjustment, or loop closure. Using a transformer, it predicts relative poses with separate rotation and translation confidences over overlapping image windows, then aggregates these predictions via a confidence‑weighted module to produce a single trajectory. CalfVO achieves the highest accuracy among calibration‑free methods across five benchmarks and runs at 53 FPS, outperforming all baselines.

Stable and Scalable Bundle Adjustment of Holistic 3D Structures

The paper introduces a unified bundle adjustment framework that jointly optimizes camera parameters, sparse 3D points, and richer geometric features such as lines, coplanarity, and parallelism. It classifies features into scalable ones with direct 2D measurements and higher‑order groups that can be treated as camera‑like entities, allowing group constraints and cross‑feature relations to be expressed via 2D reprojection errors. This approach preserves the sparsity of classical point‑based BA, maintains numerical stability, and achieves runtime comparable to point‑only BA while producing richer 3D structures and improved accuracy.

Robust Structureless Monocular Visual Inertial Initialization Exploiting Line Features and Vanishing Points

The paper introduces SLIM-init, a monocular visual‑inertial initialization method that avoids explicit 3D reconstruction by using 2D line features and vanishing points. It provides robust rotation constraints through line‑derived vanishing points and improves translation estimation with a line epipolar residual and a line‑normal projection residual. Experiments on public benchmarks and custom degenerate‑motion sequences show that SLIM-init achieves higher accuracy and robustness than existing initialization techniques.
