ZipMVS: Multi-View Stereo with Compressed Cost Volumes

ZipMVS is a multi‑view stereo (MVS) approach that focuses on reducing memory usage while maintaining high‑quality 3D reconstructions. It introduces a new depth‑hypothesis strategy that compresses the cost volume, significantly lowering GPU memory consumption. Experiments on the DTU and Tanks and Temples datasets demonstrate that ZipMVS delivers competitive reconstruction quality compared to other efficiency‑oriented MVS methods.

StereoGS: Sparse-View 3D Gaussian Splatting via Stereo Priors

3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) has achieved remarkable success in real-time novel view synthesis, yet it suffers from severe overfitting under sparse-view settings due to insufficient geometric constraints. While recent methods introduce monocular depth priors to mitigate this, they inherently struggle with scale ambiguity and cross-view inconsistency, leading to defective geometry.

Non-Uniform Quantisation for 3DGS Compression

The paper introduces a non‑uniform quantisation scheme designed for 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) models, addressing their high bitrate demands. By applying importance‑weighted quantisation and merging, the method adapts to the data distribution and removes post‑voxelisation redundancy. Experiments on benchmark datasets show state‑of‑the‑art compression performance, and the scheme is compatible with any point‑cloud representation, positioning it as a candidate for future MPEG 3DGS standardisation.

CoMVS-GS: Collaborative Multi-View Stereo and 3D Gaussian Splatting for Surface Reconstruction

CoMVS‑GS is a surface‑reconstruction framework that fuses Multi‑View Stereo (MVS) with 3D Gaussian splatting. It initializes Gaussian primitives from dense MVS points, uses PatchMatch‑3DGS mutual supervision to refine depths and normals, and replaces voxel‑based meshing with a Delaunay graph‑cut pipeline. Experiments on DTU, GauU‑Scene V2, and MatrixCity demonstrate competitive object‑level results and improved geometric accuracy and mesh compactness in outdoor scenes while preserving high rendering quality.

KISS-GS: 3D Gaussian Splatting Compression Kept Simple

KISS-GS is a modular compression pipeline for 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) scenes that separates compression from training. It first compacts a vanilla 3DGS scene by 15.7× using state‑of‑the‑art pruning, then encodes the result into the SOG‑XT image‑based format, achieving an additional 6.6× reduction. Optional encoding‑aware fine‑tuning can further cut the size by 2.2×, yielding total reductions of 85× to 319× on standard benchmarks while enabling web‑native decoding.
