Weakly Supervised Seafloor Segmentation for Seagrass Habitat Mapping in Side-Scan Sonar Imagery

The paper presents a weakly supervised semantic segmentation approach for mapping seagrass habitats using side‑scan sonar imagery. By training a ViT‑based encoder‑decoder with image‑level labels, class activation maps are refined into pseudo‑labels and iteratively self‑trained, achieving high mean intersection‑over‑union scores (up to 89.3 %) without pixel‑level annotations. The method also benefits from self‑supervised pretraining and demonstrates generalizability in field trials.

Decoupling candidate dual AGN from chance superpositions in the GOTHIC survey via a deep-learning framework

The study presents a deep‑learning approach (YOLOv11) trained on SDSS images to distinguish genuine dual active galactic nuclei (DAGN) from chance superpositions and foreground stars in the GOTHIC survey. Applying the model to 46,061 previously rejected candidates yields 29,605 dual‑nucleus candidates, with 54.5–62 % likely genuine, and a conservative subset of ~13,672 compact systems. The resulting catalogue refines the DAGN candidate list, reducing contamination and expanding the plausible census, though spectroscopic confirmation remains needed.

Joint Distribution Alignment for Universal Domain Adaptation

The paper introduces Joint Distribution Alignment for Universal Domain Adaptation (JAUA), a new algorithm designed for scenarios where source and target domains have differing label spaces. It provides a theoretical upper bound on generalization error for Universal Domain Adaptation and proposes aligning joint distributions using Chi‑Square divergence, complemented by a progressive pseudo‑labeling strategy. Experiments on six public image datasets show JAUA outperforms existing methods in handling Universal Domain Adaptation challenges.

Names Can Hurt: Spotting Slopsquatting Risks Caused by Package Name Hallucinations in Local Coding LLMs

The paper introduces a two‑layer detector to prevent ‘slopsquatting’—the risk of local coding LLMs fabricating Python package names that adversaries can pre‑register on PyPI. The first layer checks PyPI for existence, while the second uses a Random Forest classifier on ten name‑and‑metadata features; an import reconciler resolves naming mismatches. Embedded in a LangGraph state machine, the system retries at escalating temperatures and falls back to stronger models, achieving hallucination‑free code in 76% of 300 curated prompts and recovering additional runs through intra‑ and cross‑model retries.
