Rendering Novel Views of MRI Using 3D Gaussian Splatting

Read the original on arXiv Computer Vision →

The paper proposes using 3D Gaussian Splatting to reconstruct volumetric MRI data from non‑aligned scans, enabling the generation of novel view planes that are better aligned with spinal anatomy. These resampled images are then used to predict ordinal severity grades of localized stenosis, outperforming traditional Voxel Interpolation and Cubic B‑spline resampling methods. Across all stenosis conditions, the Gaussian Splatting approach yields more accurate diagnostic gradings than raw or conventionally resampled scans.

Deep Slice Interpolation for Reducing Through-Plane Anisotropy and Noise in Head CT

arXiv:2606. 09953v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Head computed tomography (CT) typically uses sub-millimeter in-plane resolution but 2-5 mm through-plane spacing, creating substantial anisotropy that degrades multiplanar reconstructions, volumetric measurements such as hematoma volume estimation, and downstream algorithms that assume near-isotropic voxels.

Anatomy-Aligned Surface Field Learning for Myocardial Reconstruction from Sparse Short-Axis Cine MRI

The paper presents an anatomy‑aligned surface learning framework for reconstructing patient‑specific 4D myocardial surfaces from sparsely sampled short‑axis cine MRI. By parameterizing epicardial and endocardial surfaces on a shared circumferential‑longitudinal UV domain, the method transforms irregular 3D reconstruction into structured coordinate‑field completion, enabling explicit correspondence across subjects and cardiac phases. Experiments on three public datasets show the approach outperforms mesh‑based and implicit methods, achieving Chamfer distances around 2.6–2.9 mm and preserving ventricular function with small errors in volume and ejection fraction.

Uncertainty-Aware 3D Residual Wavelet Diffusion for Ultra Low-Field MRI Super-Resolution

The paper introduces a 3D residual wavelet diffusion model for super‑resolving ultra low‑field MRI scans. By using a lossless wavelet reparameterisation, residual shifting, and domain randomisation, the method fits whole‑brain data on a single GPU, speeds up sampling, and generalises across scanners. It achieves volumetric accuracy comparable to leading regression approaches while producing per‑voxel uncertainty maps that reveal under‑determined regions and preserves disease‑relevant atrophy in cognitively impaired subjects.

Physically Aware Radiomics Without Interpolation: Disentangling Voxel Geometry and Signal Modification in CT and MRI

The study introduces a voxel-spacing-aware radiomic framework that incorporates physical geometry into texture computation without resampling, modifying PyRadiomics to preserve native image signals. Four extraction configurations—native non-resampled (NR), isotropic resampling (RS), voxel-spacing-aware (VS), and fake-isotropic preprocessing (FK)—were compared across 685 CT pulmonary nodules and 209 MRI breast cases, evaluating 196 radiomic descriptors. Results show that VS closely matches NR (median ICC(A,1) ≈0.998) while RS and FK exhibit lower agreement, indicating that spacing metadata alone can significantly influence radiomic features.
