Timely, high-resolution maps of flood extent around settlements are essential for emergency response and damage assessment. We consider airborne RGB imagery for flood mapping as it can be collected rapidly at low cost.
VOIM (Voxel‑Grounded Online Instance Manager) is a training‑free system that builds open‑vocabulary 3D instance maps from RGB‑D or monocular RGB input by deferring label and instance decisions until sufficient soft evidence accumulates per voxel across views. Across four perception configurations on ScanNet++, VOIM outperforms the strongest online RGB‑D system, OVO‑SLAM, by 4.8–11.7 mIoU, and achieves 44.07 mIoU under a like‑for‑like protocol, winning all ten scenes. The method also runs unchanged on monocular RGB, matching baseline performance on Replica, and produces exportable occupancy grids that support free‑form instance queries.

The paper introduces a depth‑aware pothole detection framework that fuses RGB‑D sensor data and evaluates five architectures—YOLOv8n, YOLOv8nSeg, YOLOv9t, RTDETRL, and RTDETRX—on the PothRGBD dataset. YOLOv8nSeg achieves the highest detection performance (mAP@50 = 0.9556, mAP@50_95 = 0.6758) and the most accurate depth estimate (2.96 cm), while YOLOv8n offers the fastest inference (3.6 ms) and RTDETRX delivers the highest detection confidence (92.70 %). The study also shows that even after RANSAC orthorectification, bounding‑box models overestimate pothole depth by 0.16–0.21 cm, indicating a structural bias rather than a calibration error.

Urban green-space extraction from ultra-high-resolution (UHR) imagery is commonly performed patch by patch, which limits semantic reuse among spatially separated but visually similar vegetation patterns. Directly injecting the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) into red-green-blue (RGB) backbones can also blur the roles of visual appearance learning and physical vegetation confidence.

Cryo-Bench is a new benchmark that evaluates foundation models for cryosphere mapping, comprising six semantic‑segmentation datasets across five cryospheric components (supraglacial debris, glacial lakes, sea ice, calving fronts, and Antarctic ice‑shelf extent). The benchmark includes multispectral, RGB, and SAR observations from under‑represented regions and tests thirteen geo‑foundation models alongside U‑Net and Vision Transformer baselines. Results show that with frozen encoders U‑Net slightly outperforms TerraMind, but the difference is not statistically significant; fine‑tuning with learning‑rate optimization can dramatically improve performance for some models, while in few‑shot scenarios several foundation models retain over 90 % of their full‑label accuracy.

RGBD20K is a new large-scale RGB‑D semantic segmentation dataset featuring 20,000 image pairs and 160 fine‑grained categories, surpassing existing benchmarks like NYUv2 and SUN RGB‑D in both scale and semantic diversity. The dataset provides high‑fidelity annotations obtained through rigorous re‑evaluation and correction of prior labels, ensuring a clean ground‑truth foundation. Additionally, the authors introduce a score‑purified fusion (SPF) method that achieves state‑of‑the‑art performance across evaluated benchmarks, demonstrating the value of high‑quality multimodal information.
