Luggage re-identification: A study of strategies towards a real-world application

The paper investigates strategies for luggage re-identification (ReID) in real-world video surveillance settings, such as airports and border crossings. It focuses on an end-to-end pipeline that processes multiple video streams to detect and re-identify luggage, addressing challenges like occlusions, cluttered backgrounds, and crowded scenes. The study evaluates different approaches for selecting and merging multiple views and shots of the same luggage, as well as training on varied environment datasets, to improve overall ReID performance in practical applications.

TransitReID: Transit OD Data Collection with Occlusion-Resistant Dynamic Passenger Re-Identification

arXiv:2504. 11500v3 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Transit Origin-Destination (OD) data are fundamental for optimizing public transit services, yet current collection methods, such as manual surveys, Bluetooth/WiFi tracking, and Automated Passenger Counters, are often costly, device-dependent, or unable to support individual-level matching.

Closed-Circuit Television Data as an Emergent Data Source for Urban Rail Platform Crowding Estimation

The paper explores the use of Closed‑Circuit Television (CCTV) footage to estimate urban rail platform crowding in real time. It compares three computer‑vision methods—object detection and counting, crowd‑level classification with a Vision Transformer, and semantic segmentation—to extract crowd-related features. A novel convex ridge regression technique is introduced to convert segmentation outputs into passenger counts, and the methods are evaluated on a privacy‑preserving dataset of over 600 hours of Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) video, showing that CCTV alone can provide valuable real‑time crowd estimates.

CVBL-CCTV-Face Dataset for Real-World Face Enhancement and Recognition in Surveillance

The CVBL-CCTV-Face Dataset provides real‑world surveillance images captured by an 8MP IP Dome CCTV camera, paired with high‑quality reference images taken in controlled settings. The study introduces a modular framework that combines face detection, deep‑learning super‑resolution, and identity recognition using L2‑normalized embeddings to address common surveillance degradations such as low resolution, motion blur, noise, and occlusions. Enhancement models are evaluated under three different setups and the system is deployed for real‑time identity verification in unconstrained environments.

BooM-VVT: Boosting Mask-Free Video Virtual Try-On with Image-Level Pseudo Data

BooM‑VVT is a mask‑free video virtual try‑on framework that builds on a keyframe‑driven paradigm. It introduces a multi‑stage training strategy using image‑level pseudo data to learn mask‑free localization, a garment‑sensitive keyframe sampling method to capture garment appearance, and a Frame‑Shared 3D‑RoPE module to align keyframes with target video frames for accurate garment detail transfer. The authors also release OmniView, a large‑scale multi‑view try‑on dataset, and demonstrate that BooM‑VVT outperforms existing methods in temporal consistency and garment fidelity.

MIC-BEV: Multi-Infrastructure Camera Bird's-Eye-View Transformer with Relation-Aware Fusion for 3D Object Detection

MIC-BEV is a Transformer-based bird's-eye-view perception framework designed for infrastructure-based multi-camera 3D object detection. It supports a variable number of heterogeneous cameras and employs a graph-enhanced fusion module to adaptively integrate multi-view image features by modeling geometric relationships between cameras and the BEV grid. The authors introduce the M2I synthetic dataset and evaluate MIC-BEV on both M2I and the real-world RoScenes dataset, demonstrating strong detection performance, improved robustness under challenging conditions, and practical feasibility for deployment.
