OpenCVL is a large, open dataset for fine-grained cross-view localization, comprising 617,388 ground‑aerial image pairs from 41 European cities. It blends high‑end sensor data with diverse in‑the‑wild images and includes a curation framework to correct pose annotations, enabling reliable evaluation. The dataset also offers cross‑area and snowy test sets to probe generalization, and experiments show that adding noisy in‑the‑wild data improves model performance on clean tests.

M3GA-Wild is a new benchmark for multi-modal, multi-session ground-to-aerial place recognition in forests, combining synchronized RGB imagery and LiDAR from ground traversals with high‑resolution aerial imagery and multi‑altitude LiDAR over 370 hectares. The dataset includes accurate geo‑referenced 6‑DoF poses and spans 36 km of forest traversals, enabling systematic evaluation of visual, LiDAR, cross‑modal, and multi‑modal methods. Baseline experiments show LiDAR outperforms vision‑only approaches under severe viewpoint changes, while current multi‑modal fusion offers limited gains due to poor cross‑modal alignment, highlighting challenges in cross‑platform localisation and domain gaps.

ARC‑Loc introduces a new cross‑view localization method that bypasses heavy Bird’s‑Eye‑View transformations and external depth models. By converting ground keypoints into azimuthal rays on a satellite map and exploiting their convergence at the user’s location, the approach uses a minimal Azimuthal Ray Convergence solver and an ARC loss to directly match ground and satellite images. Experiments on VIGOR and KITTI show that ARC‑Loc achieves competitive accuracy while offering faster, memory‑efficient inference and easy integration with existing frameworks.

SatNav is a new, scalable benchmark for long‑horizon vision‑language navigation (VLN) with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), built from high‑resolution satellite imagery. It generates 118,000 navigation episodes across 59 scenes in 18 cities, using satellite crops to approximate UAV nadir views and featuring three task families—Boundary, Landmark, and Route—to test long‑term memory and geospatial reasoning. The benchmark also introduces SwiftVLN, a modular framework for memory component experimentation, and demonstrates that models trained on satellite data can transfer to real‑flight UAV observations.

TempoGround is a vision‑language model–native framework for streaming visual grounding that detects cross‑frame object correspondence and explicitly models object presence states. It uses a curriculum prediction mechanism to resolve 2D instance association, predict object entry, continuation, or exit, decode 2D boxes, and lift them to 3D camera‑frame boxes. The approach is further refined with Streaming Grounding Reinforcement, which optimizes grounding, identity, and consistency rewards, and achieves significant improvements on multiple streaming visual grounding benchmarks.

arXiv:2607. 08970v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Recent benchmarks for VLMs largely assess single- or limited-view perception, leaving untested the core cognitive ability to integrate observations across viewpoints into a coherent, world-centric (allocentric) 3D mental model.

Visual localization becomes extremely challenging in planetary-like terrains characterized by low texture, perceptual aliasing, harsh illumination, and sparse, weakly overlapping viewpoints induced by forward rover motion and unconstrained driving directions. Under these conditions, state-of-the-art image-to-image and image-to-map matching pipelines suffer significant performance degradation.
