Accurate Measurement of 3D and 2D Circular Centers With Application to LiDAR-Camera Extrinsic Calibration

The paper presents a method for accurately measuring 3D and 2D circular centers, a key geometric sensing problem for instruments like cameras and LiDARs. It integrates a conformal‑geometric‑algebra estimator with RANSAC to jointly recover the 3D center, normal, and radius from noisy LiDAR points, and uses a chord‑length‑variance criterion to estimate the 2D projected center, resolving ambiguity with homography validation or a quasi‑RANSAC fallback. Experiments on synthetic and real sensors demonstrate improved center measurement accuracy and reduced extrinsic calibration error across various target and sensor setups.

Scene-agnostic ALS boresight self-calibration

ALS boresight calibration has relied for two decades on dedicated flight patterns over structured scenes containing planar surfaces of varied aspect and slope. While reliable, this approach imposes constraints on the scene content and operations, which limits its applicability to boresight recovery within routine mapping missions.

M3GD: Multi-Modal Multi-View Geometric Diffusion for Camera--LiDAR Novel View Synthesis

M3GD introduces a multimodal representation that fuses pre‑trained 2D image and 3D LiDAR foundation models for robotic novel view synthesis, avoiding the need for a separate cross‑modal translator. By projecting LiDAR onto the image latent grid and injecting the resulting geometry‑aware packets via a lightweight residual adapter, the method enhances both RGB and depth synthesis on the GrandTour dataset compared to an image‑only baseline. Ablation studies confirm that pixel‑aligned LiDAR content drives the performance gains, and real‑world deployment on a ground robot demonstrates a tunable quality–cost trade‑off.

Sensor-Informed Per-Point Covariance for Structured-Light 3D Imaging

Per-point uncertainty models are important in structured-light 3D reconstruction for probabilistic registration, fusion, and quality assessment. In practice, however, point-cloud covariances are often modeled as isotropic constants or inferred from local surface geometry and therefore do not explicitly reflect the measurement process.

A Multi-Vehicle Dataset with Camera, LiDAR, and Radar Sensors and Scanned 3D Models for Custom Auto-Annotation using RTK-GNSS

The paper introduces a multi-vehicle dataset that includes camera, LiDAR, and radar sensor data along with scanned 3D models of all vehicles. Each vehicle’s pose and continuous kinematics are provided via RTK‑GNSS, enabling precise knowledge of the dynamic surroundings at any time. The dataset supports single‑ and multi‑object recordings with seven target vehicles, allowing evaluation of measurement effects such as occlusion and reflections thanks to known vehicle surface normals.

RLG-TPV: Radar- and LiDAR-Guided Tri-Perspective View Fusion for Camera-Radar 3D Object Detection

RLG-TPV introduces a multimodal Tri-Perspective View framework that fuses camera, radar, and training‑time LiDAR data for 3D object detection. It uses radar and LiDAR to guide a ray‑deformable attention lift, refining depth distributions and providing geometric supervision for side and front planes, while radar cross‑section awareness spreads evidence spatially. On nuScenes, the method attains 0.4981 mAP and 0.5959 NDS, improving orientation and velocity accuracy by about 32 % and 31 % over the CRN baseline.

Differential 6-DOF Pose Estimation with Provable First-Order Immunity to Camera Calibration Errors

Accurate six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) motion estimation is essential for robotic manipulation, autonomous systems, and structural displacement monitoring. Conventional 3D-2D methods estimate absolute camera poses independently at each time and recover platform motion through camera-to-platform extrinsics, making them sensitive to extrinsic calibration errors, especially for micromotion.

M3GD: Multi-Modal Multi-View Geometric Diffusion for Camera--LiDAR Novel View Synthesis

M3GD is a novel approach for robotic novel view synthesis that fuses camera images and LiDAR point clouds without requiring a separate cross‑modal translator. By projecting LiDAR data onto the image latent grid and injecting it via a lightweight residual adapter, M3GD enhances both RGB and depth generation on the GrandTour dataset compared to image‑only baselines. Experiments on a ground robot confirm that the method can be deployed in real‑world scenarios with a tunable quality‑cost trade‑off.
