ResidencyRL: Reinforcement Learning in Simulated Clinical Environments

arXiv:2608. 07418v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: In medical education, physicians convert academic knowledge into clinical expertise through residency: years of training across thousands of encounters, with diverse sources of feedback and progressively greater autonomy.

Same Patient, Different Order: Action-Level Reliability of Clinical LLM Agents Under Repeated Runs

The paper introduces a new evaluation method called "same-input rerun" to assess the consistency of clinical language‑model agents across repeated runs. By replaying 1,000 MedAgentBench tasks with identical inputs, the authors find that action‑level outputs—such as test orders, medication requests, and referrals—vary significantly, even when benchmark scores remain unchanged. The study demonstrates that current benchmarks, which typically evaluate only a single run per task, can miss substantial behavioral divergence.

ClinicalReTrial: Clinical Trial Redesign with Self-Evolving Agents

ClinicalReTrial is a multi‑agent AI system that treats clinical trial protocol optimization as an iterative redesign problem on textual documents. It combines failure diagnosis, safety‑aware modifications, and candidate evaluation within a closed‑loop, reward‑driven framework, using a predictive model as a simulation environment for low‑cost, dense feedback. The system achieves a 56.7% conversion of failed protocols to predicted successes, with a 7.4% average success probability increase at a negligible cost, and its redesign patterns align with real‑world expert changes.

The Path to Self-Evolving Clinical Systems: Scaling Medical Agents from Assistance to Autonomy

arXiv:2607. 11175v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: The growing ability of large language models and vision language models to jointly interpret and reason over images and text is reshaping medical agents, moving them from task specific predictors toward autonomous systems that perceive, reason, plan, remember, and act in clinical environments.

Living-Harness Is an Interactive-Agent Evolver

arXiv:2607. 26598v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Large language model (LLM) agents may recover from a failure within an episode or after a retry, yet the same execution failure can recur in later tasks because post-episode feedback rarely revises the persistent harness that guides future interactions.
