The study introduces low‑voltage intervals (LVIs) as an amplitude‑ and duration‑based marker of neonatal EEG discontinuity and develops a ConvNeXt AI model that detects LVIs with expert‑level accuracy (AUC = 0.996, MCC = 0.926). In a cohort of 444 neonates, LVI percentage strongly correlates with EEG background grades, moderately with hypoxic‑ischaemic encephalopathy severity, and predicts seizures (AUC = 0.872). The results demonstrate that automated LVI quantification can serve as a robust biomarker for neonatal encephalopathy and seizure risk.

RobustSeiz is an open‑source, model‑agnostic framework designed to benchmark the robustness of EEG seizure detection models under realistic clinical stressors. It standardizes four public scalp‑EEG corpora into BIDS‑EEG trees, applies controlled distribution shifts—including environmental, noise, and adversarial transforms—across predefined hyperparameter grids, and reports comprehensive performance metrics such as sensitivity, precision, F1, false positives per 24 h, onset timing, and predictive agreement. The framework offers a Dockerized GPU pipeline, experiment registry, and both full‑evaluation and research‑subset modes, and demonstrates its utility by evaluating a contemporary detector on TUSZ across the full shift grid.

The paper introduces HyBrain, a model that uses spatiotemporal hyperedges to capture coordinated EEG seizure activity more efficiently than pairwise edge approaches. By generating one token per channel per second and pooling them into shared hyperedge embeddings, HyBrain performs well across detection and prediction tasks on TUSZ and CHB‑MIT datasets, achieving top AUROC scores and competitive training resources. A qualitative example shows a single hyperedge tracking the preictal‑ictal‑postictal progression of a real seizure.
NeuroDETR is a novel multiscale discrete spatiotemporal tokenization framework designed for asynchronous EEG event detection. It combines structured tokenization, event-aware feature refinement, and a sparse attention module called FOCAL to capture both brief and sustained neural responses while preserving spatial hierarchy across EEG channels. Experiments on eight diverse EEG datasets show that NeuroDETR achieves state‑of‑the‑art performance in jointly classifying events and estimating their onsets and offsets.
NeuroAtlas is the largest EEG benchmark to date, comprising 42 datasets and 260,000 hours of clinical EEG data across epilepsy, sleep medicine, brain age estimation, and brain‑computer interfaces. The study evaluates foundation models (FMs) for EEG against supervised baselines and generic time‑series FMs, finding that EEG‑specific FMs do not consistently outperform generic ones. It also demonstrates that standard machine‑learning metrics are inadequate for clinical relevance, advocating for task‑specific measures such as event‑level decision quality, hypnogram features, and brain‑age gap.
