Background: Early prediction of distant metastasis (DM) risk in head and neck cancer (HNC) can enable timely interventions that may improve treatment outcomes. Many current machine learning methods rely on prior knowledge of the region of interest such as tumor segmentations, which require expert knowledge, is time-consuming and introduces user-dependent variability.
Background: Microvascular invasion (MVI) predicts recurrence and survival in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) but requires postoperative histopathology for diagnosis. We developed and validated a model...
The study developed a multimodal ultrasound and clinical data model to predict microvascular invasion (MVI) preoperatively in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Using data from 489 patients across eight centers, the model combined B-mode ultrasound, color Doppler flow imaging, dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasound, and clinical information, achieving an AUC of 0.8953 in external validation. Dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasound contributed the most predictive power, while other modalities and clinical data added complementary value.

The paper evaluates deep learning pipelines that use only apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps from diffusion-weighted MRI (DW-MRI) for breast cancer detection and segmentation. It compares various state‑of‑the‑art models and claims to be the first comprehensive assessment of ADC‑only approaches for classification, detection, and segmentation tasks. The study highlights the potential of DW-MRI as a faster, contrast‑free alternative to dynamic contrast‑enhanced MRI for breast cancer imaging.

The paper presents M2-OPMDNet, a multimodal deep learning framework that combines white‑light and autofluorescence intraoral images with structured clinical data to detect oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs). Using a prospectively collected real‑world dataset, the model achieved an AUC of 0.952, outperforming unimodal approaches and improving detection of visually subtle lesions. Explainability was provided through SHAP analysis, showing that clinical variables significantly contributed to risk estimation alongside imaging features.
