DriveOSS: Dataset and Benchmark for 3D Anomaly Segmentation and Open-set Semantic Segmentation in Autonomous Driving

DriveOSS is a new real‑world multimodal dataset and benchmark for 3D anomaly segmentation and open‑set semantic segmentation in autonomous driving. It contains 12,661 synchronized frames from six RGB cameras, a 128‑beam LiDAR, and GPS/IMU, covering 52 driving scenes under various weather conditions. The data are split into in‑distribution (ID) scenes for training and out‑of‑distribution (OOD) scenes for validation and testing, with unknown objects labeled as an outlier class to challenge current 3D perception systems.

Out-of-Distribution Semantic Occupancy Prediction

The paper introduces Out-of-Distribution Semantic Occupancy Prediction, a task that focuses on detecting unknown objects in 3D voxel space for autonomous driving. It proposes Realistic Anomaly Augmentation to create two new datasets, VAA-KITTI and VAA-KITTI-360, and presents the OccOoD framework, which uses Cross‑Space Semantic Refinement to improve OoD detection while maintaining semantic occupancy accuracy. Experiments show OccOoD achieves an AuROC of 65.50% and an AuPRCr of 31.83% within a 1.2 m radius, demonstrating strong generalization to real‑world urban scenes.

Provisioning Robust and Efficient LiDAR Perception for Autonomous Driving

The paper presents a method for creating LiDAR-based 3D object detectors that remain accurate under point‑cloud corruptions while meeting strict latency and memory constraints. It achieves robustness by generating corrupted samples that mimic extreme weather and training detectors to focus on hard samples, guided by perturbation sensitivity estimated from an ensemble of seven heterogeneous detectors. Efficiency is improved by narrowing the network and using offline neighborhood‑density measurements to reduce the number of points processed at each sampling stage, resulting in significant gains in AP under corruption and reductions in inference latency and GPU memory usage across multiple datasets and detector architectures.

Lang3DSeg: Annotation-Free Open-Vocabulary 3D Segmentation with Point Transformers

Lang3DSeg introduces a point‑transformer backbone for open‑vocabulary, annotation‑free 3D LiDAR segmentation, trained from scratch without geometric pre‑training. It tackles noise from 2D‑to‑3D label projections by applying a class‑priority rule and truncating projected instances at depth gaps, thereby correcting depth‑ambiguity errors. The method achieves state‑of‑the‑art results on nuScenes (52.8 % mIoU) and SemanticKITTI (41.4 % mIoU) while operating in real‑time on a single LiDAR sweep.

OpenBox: Annotate Any Bounding Boxes in 3D

OpenBox is a two‑stage automatic annotation pipeline that uses a 2D vision foundation model to associate 2D image cues with 3D point clouds. It then classifies instances by rigidity and motion state to generate adaptive bounding boxes using class‑specific size statistics, eliminating the need for self‑training. Experiments on Waymo Open Dataset, Lyft Level 5 Perception, and nuScenes show improved accuracy and efficiency over existing baselines.

Open-vocabulary 3D object detection with promptable segmentation

The paper introduces an open‑vocabulary 3D object detection pipeline that uses a promptable segmentation model (SAM3) to generate instance masks from six surround‑view cameras. These masks are converted into metric 3D boxes, achieving up to 0.413 mAP/0.555 NDS without any training when supervised box geometry is borrowed at inference. The approach also improves a supervised LiDAR‑only detector by 0.034 mAP through a camera‑witness rule, demonstrating that measurement precision, not 2D detection, limits performance.

Foundation4D: Towards a unified perception and reconstruction model for autonomous vehicles

Foundation4D is a unified feed‑forward model that performs geometry estimation, 3D detection, semantic occupancy, and Gaussian reconstruction from multi‑camera driving video. It uses a shared backbone with factorized spatiotemporal attention to merge observations across cameras and time, and a video inference pipeline that refines camera trajectories via pose graph optimization and assembles object tracks. The authors also provide a data annotation pipeline and release the PAI‑Foundation4D benchmark, achieving state‑of‑the‑art results on depth, detection, and occupancy metrics and demonstrating that co‑training detection with geometry and occupancy improves performance.

AutoExpert: Automating 3D LiDAR Annotation from Expert-Crafted Guidelines

AutoExpert proposes a new benchmark for automating 3D LiDAR annotation using expert‑crafted guidelines, redefining evaluation protocols and re‑annotating nuScenes and PandaSet datasets. The pipeline combines 2D detection and segmentation in RGB images, lifts these detections into 3D with known sensor poses, and generates 3D cuboids, improving 3D detection mAP from 12.1 to 25.4 on the AutoExpert‑nuScenes benchmark.
