PhysPlan is a training‑free guidance framework that enhances video diffusion models by incorporating physical awareness through agentic physics simulation. It uses a vision‑language model to generate a Chain‑of‑Visual‑Thought representation of kinematic trajectories and 3D depth, which then drives an object‑centric test‑time optimization that isolates kinematic changes and locks the passive environment. The framework also employs Kinetic Intensity Profiling to adapt hyperparameters to varying physical deformations, and demonstrates superior performance on PhyGenBench and Physics‑IQ benchmarks compared to existing VDM baselines.

Video generation models are increasingly capable of producing realistic videos, but they still struggle to generate videos that follow basic physical laws. Compounding this is a lack of reliable granular evaluation methods for localizing and specifying physical law violations in videos.
The paper introduces VWG-Bench, a benchmark covering nine reasoning dimensions and 38 tasks to evaluate video generative models on symbolic reasoning, physical laws, and goal pursuit. It also presents Vid-PRE, a prompt-rewriting framework that offloads reasoning to a VLM, improving logical performance without changing the generator architecture. Experiments show that current models excel at visual quality but struggle with logic-heavy tasks, while Vid-PRE significantly boosts reasoning across multiple generators.
