The paper presents a three‑stage, parameter‑efficient approach to improve automatic target recognition (ATR) with synthetic aperture sonar (SAS) data by adapting DINOv3 Vision Transformers. Stage 1 applies Low‑Rank Adaptation (LoRA) while freezing the backbone, which significantly boosts the area under the precision‑recall curve from 0.300 to 0.679. Subsequent hard‑negative mining and supervised contrastive learning stages show negligible impact, indicating that a single LoRA adaptation is sufficient for effective underwater ATR.

FUSEye is a lightweight training framework that adapts a frozen COCO‑pretrained YOLO26‑x detector for fisheye images by adding only about 227k parameters. It introduces three modules: GridViews to enlarge compressed boundary regions, Z‑Adapters to correct distortion‑induced feature misalignment, and AgreeFusion to fuse detections across overlapping views. On the WoodScape fisheye benchmark, FUSEye boosts YOLO26‑x mAP50 from 0.148 to 0.266 while requiring only 25% of the labeled data to achieve 0.2597 mAP50, and it also improves YOLOv8‑11 detectors.

The paper introduces DIFTA-3D, a method that replaces the task‑specific visual branch in IIFNet3D with a frozen DINOv3 foundation model for RGB‑D 3D instance detection. It employs a depth‑consistent feature pipeline that projects points into calibrated RGB‑D frames, filters features with a metric depth‑residual check, caches accepted DINOv3 features, and aggregates them within proposal‑aligned RoI grids. Extensive experiments on ScanNetV2 show that the DINOv3 control achieves mAP scores of 76.15/60.93 at IoU thresholds 0.25/0.50, while the Conservative VAID recipe improves these to 76.59/62.16, indicating a modest gain from the proposed transfer recipe.

Albireo is an adaptive, energy‑efficient inference framework for video object detection on edge devices that wraps existing detectors without modification. It uses a 10‑dimensional Kalman filter per active object to decide when to skip detector calls, predicting bounding boxes on skipped frames at near‑zero GPU cost. Evaluated on BDD100K with YOLO and RF‑DETR detectors on NVIDIA Jetson AGX Thor and Orin, Albireo maintains AP@50 within ±1.2 pp of full‑frame inference while reducing energy consumption by 12.1–17.6 % and improving accuracy for some models.

Infrared small target detection (IRSTD) is important for low-altitude perception, unmanned-system warning, and security monitoring. However, weak targets in infrared imagery usually occupy only a few pixels and are easily submerged by cloud clutter, ground edges, and bright noise, making it difficult for lightweight segmentation-based methods to preserve local target structures while suppressing background interference.
