Not All Patches are Equal: Sampling Matters for Visible-Infrared Pre-Training

Visible-infrared (VIS-IR) alignment is a key pre-training task for robust multi-sensor perception. Most existing methods use uniform patch-wise contrastive learning, but this can be unreliable in VIS-IR data because imaging-physics differences make some spatially paired regions inherently less comparable, and aligning them with equal strength hinders representation learning and downstream transfer.

P2Fusion: Prompt-based Progressive Infrared-Visible Image Fusion via Dual-Prior Distillation

Infrared-visible image fusion (IVIF) is pivotal for multimodal perception, yet reconciling the inherent information disparity between thermal and textural features remains a fundamental challenge. Existing prior-guided methods often rely on static constraints that induce optimization conflicts or utilize extrinsic semantic priors from large-scale foundation models (e.

Ranking Infrared-Visible Fusion the Way Humans Do: A Learned Pairwise Preference Measure

The paper introduces the Learned Perceptual Image Fusion Measure (LPIFM), a model trained on dense human pairwise comparisons to assess infrared-visible image fusion. LPIFM jointly processes both source images and fused candidates using a shared hierarchical encoder, triadic interaction, and a tie-aware objective, achieving high agreement with human judgments and outperforming 19 conventional metrics. The authors release a large comparison corpus, model weights, and code, demonstrating LPIFM’s rapid adaptability to new fusion-evaluation protocols.

DOD-SA: Infrared-Visible Decoupled Object Detection with Single-Modality Annotations

The paper introduces DOD-SA, a framework for infrared-visible object detection that uses only single-modality annotations. It employs a Collaborative Teacher-Student Network with a single-modality branch and a dual-modality decoupled branch to transfer knowledge across modalities, and a Progressive and Self‑Tuning Training Strategy to refine pseudo‑labels. A Pseudo Label Assigner is also designed to align labels between modalities during training.

FusionRS: A Large-Scale RGB-Infrared Remote Sensing Dataset for Dual-Modal Vision-Language Foundation Models

Remote sensing vision-language models have advanced Earth observation understanding, but most existing work remains centered on RGB imagery, leaving the complementary information in infrared data underexplored. Infrared images provide distinctive cues, including thermal intensity structures, object boundaries, and illumination-invariant scene features, which can enrich visual-language learning beyond conventional RGB observations.

OptiSAR-Net++: A Large-Scale Benchmark and Transformer-Free Framework for Cross-Domain Remote Sensing Visual Grounding

OptiSAR-Net++ introduces a new cross‑domain remote sensing visual grounding task (CD‑RSVG) and the first large‑scale benchmark dataset, OptSAR‑RSVG. The framework replaces Transformer decoding with a CLIP‑based contrastive approach, employing a patch‑level Low‑Rank Adaptation Mixture of Experts for efficient cross‑domain feature decoupling and a text‑guided dual‑gate fusion module for improved semantic‑visual alignment. Experiments show state‑of‑the‑art performance on OptSAR‑RSVG and DIOR‑RSVG, with notable gains in localization accuracy and computational efficiency.
