RTSM: Adapting Recursive Models to Multivariate Time-Series Classification

The paper introduces the Recursive Time-Series Model (RTSM), a deep-learning architecture that uses a learned convolutional temporal tokenizer, a single-state weight‑tied refinement module, and a pooled classification readout to classify multivariate time‑series data. On the 30 UEA datasets, RTSM achieves a mean accuracy of 72.81% under validation‑based configuration, surpassing all 17 evaluated deep‑learning models and outperforming MambaSL by 1.60 percentage points. Ablation studies show that the proposed tokenizer and single‑state design outperform simpler convolutional embeddings and two‑state variants, and the full classifier reaches 86.10% mean accuracy compared to 84.79% for a tokenizer‑only classifier.

A Simple State Space Model Excels at Multivariate Time Series Classification

arXiv:2605. 27406v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Structured state space models (SSMs) have recently emerged as a promising foundation for sequence modeling, with Mamba-based architectures demonstrating strong performance through input-dependent state transitions, albeit at considerable complexity.

AF-Mamba: Efficient Long-Term Signal Modeling for Early Prediction of Atrial Fibrillation Onset

AF-Mamba is a deep learning model that predicts atrial fibrillation (AF) onset one hour in advance using long‑term RR intervals. It combines temporal convolutional networks for local feature extraction with Mamba, a state‑space model for long‑range sequence modeling, achieving high sensitivity (0.889) and specificity (0.943) in subject‑wise testing. The model maintains strong performance across unseen datasets, offering a favorable trade‑off between predictive accuracy and computational efficiency for real‑time ambulatory monitoring.

Variability Aware Recursive Neural Network (VARNN): A Residual-Memory Model for Capturing Temporal Deviation in Sequence Regression Modeling

The paper introduces the Variability-Aware Recursive Neural Network (VARNN), a residual-aware architecture for supervised time-series regression that learns a nonlinear, vector-valued residual representation from recent prediction errors. VARNN conditions subsequent predictions on this learned residual-memory state, mapping scalar prediction innovations into a short-context representation. Experiments on nine datasets across energy, healthcare, and environmental domains show that VARNN achieves lower test MSE than static, lag-based, and sequence-model baselines, and ablations confirm that the learned residual memory improves predictive accuracy over direct scalar residual feedback.
