Acoustic-to-Text KV Compression for Full-Duplex Speech Models

The paper introduces acoustic-to-text KV compression for full‑duplex speech models, converting acoustic key‑value states into compact textual memory during listening‑time slack. When the KV cache exceeds a target budget, older acoustic states are evicted while transcripts and recent acoustic context are retained. Experiments on ten‑minute LongSpeech sessions show a 64.6% reduction in peak streaming KV‑cache size and improved transcription, temporal question answering, and summarization, with comparable pause‑handling, turn‑taking, and interruption performance in Full‑Duplex‑Bench.

PERSIST: Who-What-When Memory Across Sessions for Full-Duplex Spoken Dialogue

PERSIST is a persistent memory system designed for multi-session, multi-speaker spoken dialogue, explicitly modeling Who, What, and When to enable voice assistants to recall past conversations and adapt to individual users. It structures cross-session histories into readable event records and retrieves them using a 3W joint scoring mechanism that combines semantic content, acoustic speaker identity, and temporal state. By reusing intermediate representations from the dialogue backbone, PERSIST reduces retrieval latency from 578.42 ms to 7.03 ms and achieves 85.08% end‑to‑end task accuracy on the SpokenTrace benchmark, improving EM@3 from 49.01% to 82.10%.

Liberating LLM Capabilities in Full-Duplex Speech Models

arXiv:2606. 07547v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Speech-based large language models are typically constrained to spoken replies, which limits their user-facing outputs to what can be verbalized and suppresses text-native capabilities such as code generation, structured analysis, and multi-step reasoning in realtime interaction, for tasks that require persistent, structured, and inspectable intermediate outputs.

DiffuPlex: Accelerating Full-Duplex Spoken Dialog Models via Rolling Masked Diffusion

DiffuPlex is a rolling masked diffusion framework designed to accelerate full‑duplex spoken dialog models by predicting multiple future user and assistant frames in a single backbone pass. It consumes only a confident prefix of each predicted future while maintaining the original frame rate, and revises unplayed future content when the interaction diverges. Two inference policies—DiffuPlex‑LISTEN and DiffuPlex‑SPEAK—offer speedups of 1.46×–1.59× in deployment‑path wall‑clock time and 1.61×–1.80× in Core LM speed, with all backbone invocations completing within the 80 ms interaction interval, while preserving conversational quality and, in the LISTEN policy, speech naturalness.

DuplexSpeechBench-Document Grounding: Benchmarking Document Grounding and Hallucinations in Voice Agents

DuplexSpeechBench-Document Grounding (DSB‑DG) is a benchmark that evaluates how well voice agents can ground their responses in external documents across five professional domains. It focuses on three failure modes—Context Saturation, Grounding Decay, and Proactive Grounding—and includes 1,636 adversarially verified QA pairs from 50 documents. The benchmark measures grounding accuracy, hallucination, and response latency, revealing that cascaded pipelines achieve the highest accuracy while open‑weight systems suffer from abrupt capacity collapse and multi‑turn decay.

SteerDuplex: Steerable Duplex Speech Dialogue Models

SteerDuplex is a full‑duplex speech dialogue model that can be steered along attributes such as tone, persona, speaking rate, and voice style in response to user instructions. The authors introduce a taxonomy of text‑ and audio‑based steerability, identify gaps in existing models, and fine‑tune a Moshi‑based model with reinforcement learning to improve timing and response continuity. They also present SteerBench, a benchmark of 390 spoken prompts and 1,067 human‑authored rubrics, showing significant gains in audio‑steering pass rates and interruption handling compared to open baselines.

A frontend-backend architecture for tool calls in full-duplex speech models

The paper introduces a frontend‑backend architecture for full‑duplex speech‑to‑speech models that enables tool calls while preserving natural conversational flow. The frontend emits a delegation token and streams ASR transcripts to a text‑based backend LLM, which performs tool calls and returns results that are re‑injected into the frontend via a lightweight prefill‑and‑repeat mechanism before streaming TTS synthesis. In single‑turn evaluations the system achieves 92‑97% tool‑call recall, 81.2% accuracy in rejecting irrelevant calls, and competitive performance on Full‑Duplex‑Bench‑V3 and EVA‑Bench when paired with a large backend model.
