Trajectory Prediction for Autonomous Driving in Road Construction Zones Using Human-in-the-Loop Driving Data

The paper presents WZDrive, a multimodal ego‑trajectory predictor for autonomous vehicles operating in urban road construction zones. It introduces WZDrive‑Data, a dataset of 1,183 work‑zone driving segments collected from 33 drivers in a human‑in‑the‑loop simulator that records driver control, gaze, vehicle trajectories, and scene information. WZDrive achieves a mean minADE of 1.09 m and minFDE of 2.12 m, outperforming state‑of‑the‑art baselines by 7.18 % and 13.18 % respectively.

WZPlanner: Safe End-to-End Path Planning for Autonomous Driving in Work Zones

The paper introduces WZPlanner, a new dataset and model for safe autonomous driving in work zones. The dataset, WorkZonePlan, contains over 149,000 synthetic and 5,000 real-world samples with 3D annotations for lane and work zone boundaries, plus 228 evaluation routes in CARLA. The proposed BoundaryFormer (BF) and its enhanced BF++ variants jointly predict lane/work‑zone boundaries and driving trajectories, achieving higher Driving Scores while being significantly smaller than competing models.

TerrainForge: Physics-Grounded road geometry Editing for Counterfactual Autonomous Driving

TerrainForge is a framework that generates counterfactual road geometry edits—such as crests, sags, speed humps, and friction changes—by linking a unified road model to four‑wheel vehicle dynamics. It propagates these edits through vehicle motion, camera viewpoint, and inter‑vehicle clearance, and validates the dynamics against CarSim and reconstructed Waymo scenes. The system also simulates thousands of road edits to train a surrogate model that predicts changes in the ego vehicle’s terminal gap, enabling efficient screening of safety‑critical edits.

What Probing Reveals about Autonomous Driving: Linking Internal Prediction Errors to Ego Planning

arXiv:2606. 31106v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Large-scale datasets and fast simulators have enabled improvements in driving policies that appear safe and robust, yet strong performance in nominal scenarios can still mask flawed reasoning and unsafe heuristics.
