LangMap introduces a human‑verified benchmark for language‑conditioned goal navigation (LGN) that spans four hierarchical semantic levels—scene, room, region, and instance—within real‑world indoor 3D scans. The dataset, built on HM3D, contains 18K tasks with concise and detailed descriptions for 414 object categories, and its contrastive annotation protocol ensures high‑quality, discriminative region and instance labels. Evaluation shows that LangMap’s descriptions improve text‑to‑view matching accuracy by 23 points over GOAT‑Bench and achieve a 92.5% unique‑and‑correct match rate in an independent human audit, while a proposed RGB‑only baseline, PlaNaVid, attains top‑tier success rates without depth or 3D scene representations.

Vision-language-action (VLA) models enable robot navigation from natural language and visual goals, but remain susceptible to perceptual distractions and ambiguous scene interpretations. This paper presents the first empirical evaluation of visual grounding for VLA navigation policies.

GuidedNav is a new framework for vision‑and‑language navigation that explicitly shapes the representations linking instructions to actions. It uses subtask and landmark guidance to focus pre‑action attention on the relevant instruction segment and visual regions, and spatial guidance to align internal representations with geometric features of the environment. The method achieves state‑of‑the‑art success rates on R2R‑CE and RxR‑CE val‑unseen, improving by 8.1% and 13.1% respectively, while also providing faster inference and introducing two new annotation‑enriched datasets, Guided‑R2R and Guided‑RxR.

TempoGround is a vision‑language model–native framework for streaming visual grounding that detects cross‑frame object correspondence and explicitly models object presence states. It uses a curriculum prediction mechanism to resolve 2D instance association, predict object entry, continuation, or exit, decode 2D boxes, and lift them to 3D camera‑frame boxes. The approach is further refined with Streaming Grounding Reinforcement, which optimizes grounding, identity, and consistency rewards, and achieves significant improvements on multiple streaming visual grounding benchmarks.

CLOSER is an evidence‑aware active visual verification framework for embodied object‑goal navigation. It fine‑tunes a vision‑language model to label each view of a tracked candidate as target, non‑target, or uncertain, then selects complementary views using an embedding‑based diversity gate and fuses their probabilities with a lightweight network. When uncertainty remains, a diffusion policy directs the agent toward the candidate using only the tracked mask and depth until a decisive judgment is reached.

SeekVLN is a new framework for Vision‑Language Navigation that addresses the problem of agents acting on insufficient evidence, termed Progress Myopia. It combines semantic progress reasoning with active evidence seeking, trained first with Future‑guided Reverse Generation to augment expert trajectories, and then refined via Counterfactual Contrastive Policy Optimization to reward beneficial seeking actions. Experiments on simulated benchmarks show significant gains, improving success rates by 12.7% on R2R‑CE and 7.5% on RxR‑CE, and real‑world tests demonstrate human‑like evidence‑seeking behavior.
