Learning Lane-Structured Conditioning Fields for Online HD Mapping

Read the original on arXiv Computer Vision →

The paper introduces the Lane Field, a dense bird‑eye‑view (BEV) geometric representation that captures local lane structure at each spatial location. This representation can be predicted from onboard data or derived from external map priors, and is used in a plug‑and‑play framework that modulates BEV features and guides deformable attention toward lane geometry. Experiments on OpenLane‑V2 demonstrate that these mechanisms consistently improve existing online HD mapping methods, achieving state‑of‑the‑art performance on lane segment perception.

TGRIP: A Text-Guided Approach to Vehicle Instance Prediction in Autonomous Driving

Bird's-Eye View (BEV) end-to-end instance prediction has emerged as a robust paradigm for autonomous driving perception, effectively mitigating the error propagation inherent in traditional modular pipelines. However, current state-of-the-art approaches rely predominantly on geometric supervision, such as occupancy regression and optical flow, effectively treating scene agents as generic moving obstacles.

ObjectGuidedMap: An Object-Aware Model for Robust Bird's Eye View Map Prediction in High-Occlusion Scenarios

ObjectGuidedMap introduces a multitask architecture that jointly predicts bird's eye view (BEV) maps and 3D objects, enabling explicit information exchange between the two tasks. By adding an object detection branch and cross‑task feature fusion through deformable attention and cross‑attention, the model allows map instances to leverage object context while remaining robust to occlusions. Experiments on nuScenes and Argoverse 2 show consistent improvements in BEV map prediction accuracy, especially a 21% mAP gain in heavily occluded scenes.

MapLightning: Online Vectorized HD Map Construction with 1D Map Tokens

MapLightning introduces a new approach to online vectorized HD map construction that replaces dense bird’s‑eye‑view grids with a compact set of 1D learnable map tokens. Using a transformer‑based mapper that applies full self‑attention to combined image and map tokens, the method achieves efficient inference, lower memory usage, and improved global context without relying on camera projection parameters. Experiments on nuScenes and Argoverse 2 show state‑of‑the‑art accuracy, with a lightweight variant outperforming MapTRv2 by over 10 mAP and running 1.73× faster at 40+ FPS while using 53 % less memory.
