Unified Robust and Convergent Over-The-Air Federated Learning under Channel Noise and Heterogeneity

The paper introduces RoCo-FL, a robust and convergent framework for Over-the-Air Federated Learning that addresses channel noise, fading, and data/system heterogeneity. RoCo-FL models local updates with inexact optimization and a proximal constraint to stabilize updates under wireless impairments and stragglers. The authors provide convergence guarantees for non-convex objectives and demonstrate improved stability and accuracy on CIFAR10, CIFAR100, and FEMNIST compared to existing baselines.

Resilience Beyond Stationary Client Unavailability: Unlocking Efficient and Unbiased Federated Learning

The paper introduces FedSWE, a federated learning algorithm designed to handle non‑stationary and heterogeneous client availability without requiring prior real‑time knowledge of which devices are online. FedSWE compensates for missed computations, stabilizes global updates, and mixes local updates through implicit gossiping, all while adding only modest memory and computational overhead. The authors prove that FedSWE converges to a stationary point for non‑convex objectives and achieves linear speedup in certain scenarios, and they validate these claims with experiments on real‑world datasets featuring diverse client unavailability patterns.

Differential Privacy as a Perk: Federated Learning over Multiple-Access Fading Channels with a Multi-Antenna Base Station

The paper investigates federated learning over multiple‑access fading channels with a multi‑antenna base station, focusing on user‑level differential privacy (DP). It shows that DP can be achieved as a natural benefit of channel noise without adding artificial noise, deriving new DP and convergence bounds for general bounded‑domain models and non‑convex loss functions. The authors further optimize beamforming and power allocation to characterize the trade‑off between privacy and convergence, providing theoretical insights and numerical validation.

Convergence-Latency-Aware Adaptive Modulation and Resource Allocation in RIS-Assisted Wireless Federated Learning

Federated learning (FL) over wireless networks suffers from significant training latency and degraded convergence due to unreliable wireless transmission, especially under blocked propagation environments. Although reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) can improve communication reliability, existing wireless FL studies rarely characterize the trade-off between learning convergence and communication delay under modulation-dependent transmission errors.
