Causal Representation Learning with Instantaneous and Lagged Relations via Nonstationarity

The paper introduces iCReN, a framework for causal representation learning in time‑series data that jointly models instantaneous and lagged causal relations while handling nonstationarity. It establishes theoretical conditions for identifying latent states and their causal structures up to permutation and component‑wise invertible transformations, using an auxiliary variable linked to changes in transition‑noise distributions. Experiments show that iCReN accurately recovers latent states and both types of causal relations on synthetic data and improves downstream forecasting on real‑world data.

EXAONE Forecast for Finance

EXAONE Forecast for Finance (EXAONE Finance) is a financial time‑series foundation model designed to overcome the limitations of existing models that rely on self‑attention and assume fully observed data. It replaces self‑attention with a causal 1D convolution for temporal mixing and a group‑aware pooling MLP for variate mixing, achieving linear‑time complexity. The model is pretrained on a large, diverse financial corpus and, through masked context augmentation, learns to handle missing data, ultimately topping the FinVerse benchmark across accuracy, ranking, and profitability metrics.

Learning to Difference: Adaptive Reversible Differencing (AdaRDiff) for Time Series Forecasting

AdaRDiff is a new adaptive reversible differencing technique for time‑series forecasting that learns weighted differencing to remove trend and seasonality, stabilizes residuals for forecasting, and then reconstructs the forecast autoregressively. The method offers a closed‑form convolutional implementation that can be GPU‑parallelized, achieving up to 33.7× speedup over naive recurrence. Experiments on eight diverse benchmarks show state‑of‑the‑art accuracy and significant performance gains when integrated into various backbone models, from linear models to Transformers.
