SEMA-Auto: Sighted and Efficient Multi-Turn Attack with Autonomy

arXiv:2610.35743v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Existing jailbreak attackers fall into two classes: static planners fix their single- or multi-turn adversarial plans in advance, remaining simple but...

SaFeR-Steer: Evolving Multi-Turn MLLMs via Synthetic Bootstrapping and Feedback Dynamics

SaFeR-Steer is a progressive multi‑turn alignment framework that uses staged synthetic bootstrapping and tutor‑in‑the‑loop GRPO to train a single student model against adaptive, on‑policy attacks. It introduces Trajectory‑Consistent Summative Reward (TCSR) to ensure that low‑quality turns impact the overall trajectory reward. The authors release the STEER dataset and demonstrate that SaFeR‑Steer significantly improves safety and helpfulness on both single‑turn and multi‑turn benchmarks for Qwen2.5‑VL models.

$M^3$: A Multi-LLM System for Multi-Turn Jailbreaking as a Markov Decision Process

$M^3$ is an automated red‑teaming framework that models multi‑turn jailbreaking as a finite‑horizon Markov Decision Process. It lets an attacker LLM interact with a target LLM while using a state LLM to maintain a compact internal state. Across two benchmarks and six target models, $M^3$ outperforms existing methods, boosting attack success rates by up to 53% at five turns and improving consistency and risk escalation metrics.

Jailbreaking for the Average Jane: Choosing Optimal Jailbreaks via Bandit Algorithms for Automatically Enhanced Queries

arXiv:2606. 26936v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: With a profusion of jailbreaks for LLMs now widely known, a growing concern is that non-expert malicious actors ("the average Jane") could elicit actionable responses to malicious requests.

CoFiBreak: A Coarse-to-Fine Diversity Reward for Effective Multi-Turn Jailbreak

CoFiBreak introduces a coarse‑to‑fine diversity reward for Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) that enhances the variety of attack strategies in automated red‑teaming of large language models while maintaining high attack success and low inference cost. The coarse reward encourages underrepresented strategies within each GRPO group, and the fine reward discourages reuse of personas, framings, and output formats after harmful‑intent information is removed from prompt embeddings. Trained against Llama3.1‑8B‑Instruct, CoFiBreak achieves 1.6–2.0× more distinct successful strategies than the strongest baseline, attains 98.8% ASR@10 on AdvBench, and transfers effectively to unseen frontier LLMs such as Claude‑Opus‑4.6.

Climbing the Hill: Prompt Injection Red-Teaming Against Frontier Models with Curriculum Reinforcement Learning

The paper introduces a curriculum reinforcement learning approach to overcome the cold‑start problem in prompt‑injection red‑teaming of frontier large language models. By training an attacker LLM sequentially against increasingly robust target models and ensuring partial success at each stage, the method achieves high attack success rates (93.8% against GPT‑5.6‑Luna and 45.0% against GPT‑5.6‑Terra) where prior RL methods fail. The attacker LLM also transfers its effectiveness to other frontier models it was not explicitly trained on.

ADVERSA: Measuring Multi-Turn Guardrail Degradation and Judge Reliability in Large Language Models

The paper introduces ADVERSA, an automated red‑teaming framework that evaluates large language model safety over multiple turns by tracking continuous compliance trajectories instead of binary jailbreak outcomes. Using a fine‑tuned 70B attacker model and a structured 5‑point rubric, the authors conduct controlled experiments on three frontier victim models, measuring guardrail degradation and judge reliability through a triple‑judge consensus. Results show a 26.7% jailbreak rate with most breaches occurring early, and the study documents inter‑judge agreement, attacker drift, and attacker refusals as key factors affecting safety assessment.

JailbreakSkill: Scaling Automated Red-Teaming with Reusable and Ever-Evolving Skills

arXiv:2608. 16465v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Automated red-teaming has produced a growing collection of attack strategies, yet they typically remain scattered across prompts and workflows, making them difficult to systematically integrate, reuse, and improve at scale.
