Target-Constrained Pooling for Trajectory Extrapolation

Target-Constrained Pooling (TCP) is a method for improving trajectory extrapolation by separating the finite-horizon endpoint from the continuation shape and estimating the endpoint from two complementary source signals—uniform pooling for final response levels and matched-increment pooling for remaining change. TCP selects representative sources, projects endpoint estimates onto a target-consistent region, applies corrections to a free forecast, and calibrates their influence with strength calibration and degradation-aware weighting. Across 25,245 targets from five domains, TCP reduces mean RMSE by 35.8% to 42.1% for all ten target-only forecasters and improves all 100 forecaster, dataset, and direction comparisons, while using far fewer donor inputs and matching distance computations.

Sliding-Window Reordering with Overlap Averaging: A Simple Time-Domain Augmentation for Multivariate Forecasting

The paper introduces a simple, model‑agnostic time‑domain augmentation called Sliding‑Window Reordering with Overlap Averaging. It transforms the joint input‑target sequence into overlapping windows, randomly reorders a fraction of them based on a variance criterion, and reconstructs the sequence by averaging overlaps to generate synthetic samples with controlled variation and minimal temporal distortion. Experiments show strong performance gains across nine long‑term forecasting benchmarks and four short‑term traffic benchmarks, with detailed ablations and diagnostics highlighting the effectiveness of each design choice.

Monotone-Constrained Diffusion Models for Long-Horizon Production Forecasting

The paper introduces Physics‑SIMS‑TS, a conditional diffusion model designed for long‑horizon oil and gas production forecasting. It enforces monotone decline through negative guidance, decline‑curve constraints, and isotonic projection during sampling, and incorporates spatial training augmentation and an ensembled stochastic sampler to produce calibrated predictive distributions. Evaluated on over 35,000 wells across three jurisdictions, Physics‑SIMS‑TS achieves the highest accuracy among diffusion forecasters and matches transformer ensembles, with only a 0.5% increase in mean squared error for monotonicity.

SPACE: Sample-cloud Predictive Adaptive Conformal Ellipsoids for Multivariate Time-Series Forecasting

SPACE is a conformal wrapper that creates ellipsoidal joint prediction regions for multivariate time‑series forecasts by estimating time‑local covariance directly from the current forecast sample cloud. It calibrates the region’s radius using a dynamic backward window‑selection scheme, avoiding reliance on historical residuals. Experiments on diverse datasets show that SPACE improves joint and rolling coverage, achieving better coverage‑efficiency tradeoffs than existing wrappers.

Large Distant Gradients Need Not Be Reliable: reliability-weighted credit assignment for long-horizon autoregressive forecasting

The paper introduces Internal Dual-Wiener routing (Internal‑DW), a backward‑only method that weight‑balances internal gradient routes in autoregressive forecasting. By estimating bounded Wiener gains for identity and nonlinear paths, it suppresses unpredictable noise while preserving predictable learning signals, reducing forecast error by 5.2%–13.8% on four weak‑drive testbeds compared to full BPTT and outperforming gradient clipping, Jacobian regularization, and truncated BPTT in most cases. The approach shows that long‑horizon supervision can be effective without trusting every backward gradient equally.
