Harness Engineering in LLM Tool Use via Agent-Native Reusable Tool Primitives

The paper introduces Tool Primitives, a design that replaces rigid API schemas with natural language interfaces for tool calling, enabling seamless inter-tool communication. It builds ToolFace, a repository of over 25,000 functions that LLMs can dynamically retrieve, and HEART, a harness engineering framework that orchestrates tool use with planning, routing, and verification. Experiments show HEART outperforms fine‑tuned models and leading commercial LLMs while cutting API costs by up to 85%.

OpenClaw and Ollama in Agentic AI: Toward Fully Autonomous and Scalable AI Agent Systems

arXiv:2607. 28629v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: The rapid transition from reactive large language models (LLMs) to persistent, action-capable systems has exposed critical gaps in the architectural understanding of Agentic AI, particularly in separating inference, orchestration, and execution layers for autonomous AI agents.

ChatDev 2.0: A No-Code Multi-Agent Platform for Developing Everything

ChatDev 2.0, also called DevAll, is a no-code platform that lets users build, run, and inspect heterogeneous multi‑agent systems (MAS) powered by large language models. It combines a declarative executable graph abstraction with a cycle‑aware execution engine, enabling representation and execution of dynamic, cyclic interactions among diverse agents. The integrated visual interface allows users to author, monitor, and inspect MAS—including human‑in‑the‑loop steps—without writing code, and experiments show it matches state‑of‑the‑art MAS performance across three tasks.

CaveAgent: Transforming LLMs into Stateful Runtime Operators

arXiv:2601. 01569v4 Announce Type: replace Abstract: LLM-based agents are increasingly capable of complex task execution, yet current agentic systems remain constrained by text-centric paradigms that struggle with long-horizon tasks due to fragile multi-turn dependencies and context drift.

Agent libOS: A Library-OS-Inspired Runtime for Long-Running, Capability-Controlled LLM Agents

arXiv:2606. 03895v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Large language model (LLM) agents are evolving from request-response assistants into long-running software actors: they maintain state across model calls, fork subtasks, wait for external events, request human authority, generate tools, and perform side effects that must be resumed and audited.

AnyAct: Universal Action for Self-Evolving Agents

AnyAct introduces a universal action layer that consolidates diverse tool capabilities into a self‑evolving action space for AI agents operating in open‑world environments. It tackles the scale dilemma, tool non‑stationarity, and heterogeneous feedback by using hierarchical progressive retrieval and test‑time reliability evolution, while a heterogeneous observation grounding module unifies multi‑modal feedback. Evaluations on LiveMCPBench and the newly created OSMCP benchmark show state‑of‑the‑art performance, with significant gains in task success rate and reduced execution steps, especially for models with limited native capabilities.

TuiML: Machine Learning for AI Agents

TuiML is a machine‑learning library specifically designed for AI agents rather than human programmers. It offers native algorithms for supervised, unsupervised, time‑series, data handling, tuning, and evaluation tasks, with each component exposing machine‑readable metadata and parameter schemas so agents can search, inspect, compose, and validate workflows autonomously. The library ensures every call is validated, seeded, and traced, and sessions can be exported as runnable notebooks, making experiments reproducible by construction. Benchmarks indicate TuiML remains predictively competitive with scikit‑learn and Weka, while keeping data and models confined to the local machine.
