LiveSearch: Questions as Executable Verifier Code for a Live Benchmark of Professional-Source Financial Search Agents

Read the original on arXiv AI →

LiveSearch is a new financial benchmark that evaluates agents on up‑to‑date facts by storing each question as executable verifier code that calls a professional financial data service and extracts the answer at evaluation time. The gold answer is recomputed daily without human or language‑model intervention, ensuring that models must retrieve current data rather than rely on memorized, stale answers. The benchmark automatically generates these verifier programs from real tool responses, and experiments show that most questions change their gold value daily, revealing dynamic correctness that aggregate metrics can miss.

Enhancing Financial Question Answering: A Novel Benchmark Dataset of Banks' financial statements

FinRAG-QA is a new benchmark dataset for financial question answering, featuring 999 practitioner-curated questions on 10 standardised indicators drawn from 209 annual and Pillar 3 reports of 24 major European and U.S. banks between 2019 and 2023. The dataset focuses on cross‑institutional retrieval over documents averaging 198k words, making it longer than any existing financial QA resource. Experiments on a multi‑stage Retrieval‑Augmented Generation pipeline show that contextual chunk enrichment and a retrieval‑optimised embedding model significantly improve NDCG@10, while a reasoning‑optimised generator boosts answer accuracy from 44.6% to 79.0% when the correct document is retrieved.

AgenticFinBench: Benchmarking Financial Agents on Diverse Tasks from Real-World Requests

AgenticFinBench is a new benchmark comprising 230 real‑world financial tasks across eight categories, two languages, and four complexity levels, designed to capture the breadth and open‑ended nature of financial AI work. It introduces a reference‑free evaluation framework that uses question‑specific rubrics and a two‑stage claim audit to detect hallucinations, aligning assessment more closely with real‑world financial practice. Experiments on 18 agent configurations show that ignoring hallucinations inflates performance, that harness differences drive evidence grounding more than model differences, and that task complexity reduces quality scores, highlighting challenges in explaining financial impacts and comparing data consistently.

FINCOSMOS: An Open-World Evaluation Paradigm for Agents in Finance

FINCOSMOS is an open‑world evaluation framework for financial language agents that tests their ability to acquire data from the Web, construct backtests within a data‑cutoff, and deliver verifiable results without any pre‑provided data or reference answers. In the benchmark, a simulated user hides a strategy and only reveals it upon request; agents must build their own backtests and pass 15 veto checks to be accepted. Across 150 sessions with four coding agents and a tool‑less model, no session was accepted, highlighting widespread failures and revealing that 88.33% of failures were attributed to the agents themselves.
