GRIN+ is a new machine unlearning framework that targets fast and precise data erasure in imbalanced medical datasets. It separates unlearning‑specific knowledge from general representations by analyzing gradient contributions of forget and retain sets, introduces a class‑adaptive influence scoring to counter gradient dominance, and uses a direction‑constrained update to protect essential clinical knowledge. Benchmarks on skin cancer, brain tumor, and breast ultrasound data show that GRIN+ balances privacy, efficiency, and utility, achieving high diagnostic accuracy and faster runtime than existing methods.
arXiv:2607. 29462v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Adapting deep learning models to profound clinical heterogeneity typically relies on parameter-efficient fine-tuning (PEFT) to avoid the severe overfitting associated with full end-to-end network updates.
The CXR‑LT 2026 Challenge introduces a multi‑center, long‑tailed chest X‑ray classification benchmark with over 145,000 radiologist‑annotated images from PadChest and NIH datasets. It defines two core tasks: robust multi‑label classification on 30 known classes and open‑world generalization to 6 unseen rare disease classes. The paper outlines data collection, annotation, solution strategies, and evaluates performance across head‑vs‑tail, calibration, and cross‑center gaps, noting that vision‑language models improve in‑distribution and zero‑shot performance but rare‑finding detection under multi‑center shift remains difficult.
arXiv:2607. 12464v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: When labeled data are scarce, off-the-shelf diffusion models can augment training sets for few-shot medical image classification, but not all generated samples are equally useful for the downstream task.
