RubricEM is a unified reinforcement learning framework designed for deep research agents that plan, search, evaluate evidence, and synthesize long‑form reports. It introduces rubric‑guided policy decomposition, combining supervised fine‑tuning to scaffold agents with rubrics, stage‑structured GRPO for fine‑grained credit assignment, and a reflection meta‑policy for experience reuse. The resulting RubricEM‑8B model outperforms larger open models on four long‑form research benchmarks and approaches the performance of proprietary deep‑research systems.

Scientific datasets are commonly organized as hierarchical repositories containing heterogeneous and interdependent files, making their inspection, integration, and analysis labor-intensive and reliant on domain expertise. Although large language model (LLM) agents have advanced substantially in planning, reasoning, and tool use, existing research has largely overlooked their ability to interact with real scientific data assets through executable environments.
OpenResearcher is a fully open, reproducible pipeline for generating long‑horizon deep research trajectories that interleave search, evidence aggregation, and multi‑step reasoning. It decouples corpus bootstrapping from trajectory synthesis and runs the search‑and‑browse loop offline using three browser primitives over a 15M‑document corpus. Using GPT‑OSS‑120B as a teacher, the pipeline produced over 97K trajectories, enabling a 30B‑A3B model to achieve 54.8% accuracy on BrowseComp‑Plus and providing insights into pipeline design through controlled analysis.

The paper introduces Librarian Agents, a framework that trains large language models to proactively curate long-context workspaces by reorganizing raw documents into a hierarchical filesystem of synthetic files and reference links. This builder agent, optimized via reinforcement learning, aims to maximize downstream answering accuracy by anticipating future queries rather than reacting to them. Experiments show that Librarian Agents outperform leading retrieval and precomputation methods, achieving a 33‑point accuracy gain on BrowseComp‑Plus and a 31‑point improvement on BRIGHT in zero‑shot settings.
