Learning to Predict, Discover, and Reason in High-Cardinality Event Sequences

The article discusses a new approach to diagnosing vehicle faults by treating diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) as a high‑cardinality language. It proposes Transformer‑based models for predicting event sequences, scalable causal discovery frameworks, and a multi‑agent system that automatically generates Boolean error‑pattern rules. These methods aim to replace manual, error‑prone grouping of DTCs with automated, scalable fault diagnostics.

Learning to Predict, Discover, and Reason in High-Dimensional Event Sequences

The paper proposes a new framework for automated fault diagnostics in modern vehicles by treating diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) as a high‑dimensional language. It introduces Transformer‑based models for predictive maintenance, scalable causal discovery methods, and a multi‑agent system that automatically generates Boolean error‑pattern rules. The approach aims to replace costly manual grouping of DTCs with scalable, data‑driven techniques.

SDVDiag: Multimodal Causal Discovery for Online Diagnosis in Software-defined Vehicles

arXiv:2606. 15559v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: The transition toward software-defined vehicles concentrates an increasing share of vehicle functionality into distributed software services, where failures propagate through service dependencies and the surface symptom is often several causal hops away from the underlying defect.

Foundation Models for Event Prediction Across Heterogeneous Event Logs

The paper introduces the Foundation Event Predictor (FEP), a scalable in‑context architecture that performs next‑event prediction across diverse event logs using learned, event‑level nonparametric inference. FEP employs causal self‑attention to encode context and target histories, cross‑attention for relevance‑weighted aggregation, and permutation‑robust embedding learning to decouple event IDs from semantics. Trained on 696 real‑world datasets and evaluated on 50 unseen ones, FEP generalizes effectively to new systems without parameter adaptation, often matching or surpassing models trained separately on each target dataset.

Scaling Online Complex Event Detection with Synthetic Supervision and Mamba-Based Neural Algorithmic Reasoning

The paper presents NAROCE, a Neural Algorithmic Reasoning framework for online complex event detection (CED). It decouples rule learning from sensor semantics by pretraining a Mamba-based rule reasoner on synthetic atomic event traces and then adapting it to raw sensor inputs with limited labeled data. Experiments on a simulator‑generated benchmark show that NAROCE matches or surpasses strong baselines while using far fewer labeled sequences and computational resources.
