arXiv:2608. 12652v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Benchmark contamination is diagnosed today with n-gram overlap, with likelihood-based membership inference, or with canary strings, and each needs something usually unavailable: the training corpus, a well-chosen test statistic, or foresight at dataset release.

Abstract: A post-hoc out-of-distribution (OOD) detector reads the activations of a trained classifier and returns a score. It fits that score on in-distributio...

arXiv:2607. 13234v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Deepfake detectors that achieve near-perfect scores on academic benchmarks collapse on real-world content: recent in-the-wild evaluations report AUC drops of 45-50% for state-of-the-art open-source models.

arXiv:2606. 11267v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Data leakage -- contamination of a model with information unavailable at baseline -- is the dominant reproducibility failure in machine-learning-based science, yet detection tools require training code, external data, or domain expertise.

arXiv:2608. 00144v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Membership inference (MIA) on language models is usually summarised by an aggregate ROC-AUC, but such evaluations are confounded: model-free blind baselines separate members from non-members from surface text alone.

The study investigates whether open‑weight language models can introspect on their own internal computations. Using the Open‑Weight Masked Introspection (OWMI) framework, researchers intervened on various internal components of eight models and asked them to report whether changes had occurred. Across 78,000 measurements, none of the models reliably distinguished real interventions from sham ones, with AUROC values essentially at chance.
Why It Matters: The findings suggest that current open‑weight models lack the ability to audit their own internal states, highlighting a limitation for oversight that relies on a model’s self‑reporting.

RAGScope is a leakage‑controlled, cost‑aware protocol that evaluates evidence‑gating mechanisms for retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) systems using only the task input, retrieved context, and answer text. The enhanced gate, RAGScope‑E, achieves an AUROC of 0.798 and an average precision of 0.660 on three RAGTruth tasks, outperforming ROUGE‑L by 0.034 in pooled AP and delivering 0.748 precision within a top‑10% review budget. It operates quickly (6.22 ms per example on CPU) and demonstrates that cheap evidence gates can effectively triage RAG outputs, though calibration must be validated and adapted for each target domain.

TwinMark is a watermarking scheme that embeds a single SHAKE128 secret into a vision model using two complementary linear functionals of model-output summaries: a covariance projector (cov‑Feat) and a class‑conditional Fisher‑aligned linear carrier (cc‑FALC). These readouts cover both classifier APIs attacked by KL knowledge distillation and representation‑only hosts attacked by feature‑matching distillation, each providing a teacher‑measurable a posteriori certificate. Across 13 attacks on datasets such as CIFAR‑10, CIFAR‑100, and Mini‑ImageNet, TwinMark remains detectable on every post‑attack model that retains task utility, survives cross‑architecture distillation onto ResNet‑18/50, VGG‑16, and MobileNet‑V3, and can be ported to GNSS few‑shot, VOC detection, ISIC segmentation, and STL‑10 SimCLR.
