Robust Taylor-Lagrange Control for Safety-Critical Systems with Guaranteed Feasibility

The paper introduces a robust Taylor‑Lagrange Control (rTLC) method that extends the safety function to a higher order using Taylor’s expansion with Lagrange remainder. This approach ensures that safety constraints remain satisfied throughout each discretization interval, thereby preserving feasibility in safety‑critical control problems. The authors demonstrate the effectiveness of rTLC on an adaptive cruise control scenario and compare it with existing methods.

Exchange Policy Optimization Algorithm for Semi-Infinite Safe Reinforcement Learning

The paper introduces Exchange Policy Optimization (EPO), a framework for semi‑infinite safe reinforcement learning that handles infinitely many constraints by iteratively solving finite subproblems. EPO expands or deletes constraints based on tolerance violations and Lagrange multipliers, maintaining computational tractability while converging to an optimal policy with bounded safety violations. The authors prove finite convergence, provide iteration bounds, and quantify the suboptimality gap under mild assumptions.

Conformal Recovery-Deadline Certificates for Runtime Assurance of Adapting Controllers

Runtime assurance (RTA) protects a safety-critical system by switching from an advanced controller to a verified safe controller when a monitored condition is violated. The standard latching rule, which trips on the first breach of the safe set and then coasts, is correct for a diverging controller but pathological for a capable online-adapting one.

FAITH: Feasibility-Aware Safety-Filtered RL for High-Dimensional Systems

FAITH is a model‑free reinforcement learning framework that separates safety from task performance by using a learned safety filter. The filter approximates the optimal state‑action safety value with a feedforward network, allowing the task policy to optimize return through filtered dynamics without a competing safety term. Experiments on a double integrator, Safety Gym, a 29‑DoF humanoid, and a real Unitree G1 show that FAITH achieves high returns while maintaining near‑perfect safety and handling infeasible starts gracefully.
