The paper introduces SSR (Structural Signal Retriever), a deterministic, training‑free method for selecting relevant Agent Cards in large multi‑agent systems without exposing the full registry to an LLM orchestrator. SSR extracts structural lexical signals from Agent Card fields, weights them with inverse document frequency, and uses an Inverted Signal Index to score candidates efficiently. Experiments on synthetic benchmarks, MS MARCO, and end‑to‑end orchestration show that SSR cuts LLM input by 98.8 % and latency by 70.9 % at 1,000 agents, while preserving retrieval effectiveness and preventing operational failures seen with full‑catalog approaches.

ClinAgent is a conversational system that uses a ReAct-based LLM agent to retrieve and synthesize clinical trial information from multiple sources such as ClinicalTrials.gov, PubMed, and a local dataset. The agent iteratively reasons over user queries, selects appropriate tools, and refines its actions to provide grounded, up-to-date responses in natural language across multi-turn interactions. Evaluation across three phases shows that DeepSeek (thinking mode) excels in planning quality while Gemini 3.0 Flash delivers the highest overall performance and expert ratings, demonstrating the promise of agentic AI for improving clinical trial data access.

Agentic retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) extends static RAG by allowing language models to iteratively reason, generate search queries, retrieve evidence, and predict answers. However, it remains challenging for models to decide when to retrieve, whether to use lexical matching or semantic similarity, and how to control context granularity to prevent irrelevant tokens from interfering with agent reasoning.

The paper introduces AMA, a framework that uses multiple agents—Constructor, Retriever, Judge, and Refresher—to manage memory for large language model agents. AMA’s hierarchical memory design dynamically adjusts retrieval granularity to match task complexity, while the Judge and Refresher ensure relevance, consistency, and timely updates. Experiments on long-context benchmarks show AMA outperforms existing baselines and cuts token usage by about 80% compared to full-context approaches.
