GenONet introduces a Spatio-Temporal U-DeepONet architecture that serves as a generator in a GAN framework for high‑resolution precipitation nowcasting up to three hours ahead. By learning continuous‑time precipitation dynamics with a Deep Operator Network and enforcing physics through a moisture‑conservation loss, the model produces sharp, physically consistent forecasts that outperform baselines, especially for high‑intensity events and longer lead times. Ablation studies confirm the added value of the physics‑informed regularizer and the synergy of operator learning with adversarial training.

The study demonstrates that a wide‑activation deep super‑resolution (WDSR) network can learn to reconstruct unseen two‑dimensional homogeneous isotropic turbulence fields from overlapping patches of a single high‑resolution realization. By training exclusively on these patches, the model achieves extreme super‑resolution factors of x32 and x64, accurately recovering coherent vortical structures and fine‑scale features better than conventional interpolation. Spectral and statistical analyses confirm improved high‑wavenumber energy recovery and multiscale flow characteristics, and comparisons with models trained on multiple full snapshots highlight the advantage of exploiting spatial redundancy within a single realization.

In rectified-flow-based generative models, the neural network can be trained to predict two different targets, such as the instantaneous velocity or the data endpoint, to perform denoising. Although prior work shows that these parameterizations lead to different empirical behaviors, the mechanisms underlying their respective advantages remain to be underexplored, and how to combine them effectively is still unclear.
