The paper introduces a post‑training approach that enables a single inference process to transition from text reasoning to image synthesis, eliminating the need for explicit modality switching. Using the 14B BAGEL model, the authors demonstrate that targeted post‑training data and reward‑weighted training improve multimodal image generation across four independent T2I benchmarks. The study highlights the benefits of joint text‑image generation and strategic data selection for enhancing T2I performance.

DEPICT is a new training‑free metric for evaluating text‑to‑image alignment. It replaces fixed reference answers with an agreement rule that compares image‑based and caption‑only responses, weighting questions by how decisively the caption determines them. By merging this agreement score with a holistic score, DEPICT improves negation accuracy dramatically and outperforms existing training‑free metrics while matching or exceeding fine‑tuned evaluators on several benchmarks.

The paper introduces a capability‑centric data infrastructure for generalist image generation, integrating task‑specific supervision with a curriculum that aligns with the dependencies among generative capabilities. It employs three interoperable data engines—text‑image grounding, inter‑image transformation, and image‑knowledge association—alongside caption experts to harmonize text‑to‑image and editing supervision. The system curates massive corpora (440M T2I images, 120M editing pairs, 27M image‑entity pairs) and trains multimodal diffusion models (3B and 6B parameters) from scratch, achieving broad visual coverage and versatile rendering as shown by CPI‑Bench and qualitative tests.

The paper introduces Preserve-and-Compose Training (PACT) for composed image retrieval, a task where a query image is modified by a textual instruction while preserving visual content from a reference image. PACT learns from image–text–text triplets, using target captions for supervision and visual evidence from the source image to maintain relevant details, without requiring target images or gallery updates. The authors also propose Chord scoring, which blends target similarity with source-relative directional agreement in a frozen image space, and demonstrate that this combined approach yields strong retrieval performance across multiple zero-shot CIR benchmarks and various backbones.

The paper introduces LLMAE, a technique that transforms a pretrained decoder-only language model into a continuous text autoencoder by inserting a fixed-length latent bottleneck into its internal activations. Using a 270M Gemma 3 model with structured attention masks, LoRA adaptation, and KL regularization, LLMAE achieves near-perfect reconstruction of text sequences up to 1024 tokens. The authors further show that the resulting latent representation can be leveraged to train a latent text diffusion model for detailed image captioning, demonstrating downstream utility.

Scientific images are the core elements of presenting experimental conclusions, elaborating system architecture, and supporting comparative arguments in scientific papers. However, existing image quality assessment (IQA) methods are predominantly designed for natural photographs or AI-generated content, which cannot be directly applied to scientific papers.

Visual Information-Guided Parallel Decoding for Diffusion Multimodal Large Language Models introduces the VIG‑Sampler, a method that prioritizes tokens for decoding based on their attention to image tokens and penalizes redundancy in image‑attention distributions. The approach aims to improve the quality of multimodal generation by selecting more informative tokens during diffusion decoding. Experiments on seven captioning and VQA benchmarks with three open‑source dMLLMs show that VIG‑Sampler outperforms the Info‑Gain Sampler by an average of 19.3 CIDEr points and achieves better COCO Caption results using only half as many decoding steps.
