CAPABLE: Capability-Aware Policy Adaptation via Behavioral Latent Encoding

CAPABLE is a capability‑aware policy adaptation framework that enables frozen vision‑language‑action (VLA) policies to recover from joint faults without task‑specific retraining or fault labels. It self‑infers each joint’s actual motion contribution using a temporal encoder, Jacobian grounding, and cross‑joint attention, then conditions a residual reinforcement learning policy to apply bounded corrections to the VLA arm action. Experiments on 28 LIBERO tasks show CAPABLE improves success rates from 24.8% to 59.3% on an actuator excluded from fault training, outperforming a global‑history baseline by 17.4 points while maintaining healthy performance and demonstrating transfer to unseen fault families and a physical Franka Panda robot.

Self-Adaptive VLA for Robust Robot Deployment

The paper introduces Self‑Adaptive VLA, a post‑training method that lets Vision‑Language‑Action policies self‑adapt to deployment‑time hardware shifts by using rollouts as context. It creates shift‑conditioned expert demonstrations, compresses visual, proprioceptive, and action data into a latent context token, and modulates the policy via adaptive layer normalization. Experiments on four precision‑critical manipulation tasks show the method recovers over 80 % of the base policy’s performance under actuation bias and encoder offsets, and improves robustness on new workstations.

Rewind-IL: Online Failure Detection and State Respawning for Imitation Learning

Rewind-IL is a training‑free online safeguard for generative action‑chunked imitation learning policies. It uses a zero‑shot failure detector based on Temporal Inter‑chunk Discrepancy Estimate (TIDE) and a state‑respawning mechanism that returns the robot to a verified safe intermediate state. The system builds a checkpoint library offline with a vision‑language model and monitors self‑consistency online, rewinding execution to the latest safe checkpoint when a failure is detected, thereby improving reliability in long‑horizon manipulation tasks.

EmbodiedSkills: A Unified Framework for Orchestrating, Training, and Deploying VLA Agents

EmbodiedSkills is a unified framework that treats each skill decision as an execution proposal, checking prerequisites and verifying outcomes during long‑horizon vision‑language‑action tasks. It connects high‑level skill selection, bounded low‑level VLA execution, and post‑action verification through a fixed executable‑skill interface, enabling easy replacement of low‑level policies and recording of structured trajectories for supervision and adaptation. Instantiated with Qwen3‑VL and OpenPI/pi0.5 on RoboTwin 2.0 and LIBERO, the framework achieves high success rates (86.20% and 97.40% respectively) and demonstrates effective memory‑dependent task performance.

VISTA: Vision-Grounded and Physics-Validated Adaptation of UMI data for VLA Training

Universal Manipulation Interface (UMI) enables scalable real-world robot data collection without hardware-specific teleoperation, yet leveraging UMI data to train large-scale Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models remains fundamentally challenging. We identify two critical mismatches: wrist-mounted fisheye views, with severe radial distortion and local gripper-centric perspectives, are out-of-distribution for pretrained VLMs; and human-collected trajectories frequently violate kinematic limits, incur collisions, or exceed controller bandwidth, teaching VLA policies physically infeasible actions.

ValueFormer: A Causal Transformer Value Function with Stage-Aware Labels for Semi-Autonomous Vision-Language-Action Policies

arXiv:2608. 02958v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Vision-Language-Action (VLA) policies trained by behavior cloning fail silently: from the action stream alone, a collapsing rollout looks much like one making clean progress, because imitation supplies no notion of progress.

Beyond Actions: Learning Future Operation Targets for Vision-Language-Action Models

The paper introduces Action–Future Coupled Effect Learning (AFCE), a method that shifts the primary prediction target of vision‑language‑action (VLA) policies from action chunks to future‑grounded physical Effects. AFCE constructs temporally ordered Effect tokens from demonstrations, robot responses, and visual transitions, and uses reconstruction objectives to preserve executable detail and physical change. On the DexJoCo benchmark, AFCE achieves a 50.97% overall success rate, outperforming baseline policies by 11.82 and 15.21 percentage points and excelling on all five bimanual tasks, underscoring the benefit of Effect supervision for coordinated dexterous manipulation.
