BIRD-RL: Scaling Agentic Reinforcement Learning over Stateful Data-Centric Environments

BIRD‑RL is a new agentic reinforcement learning framework designed to scale training of small language models (SLMs) in data‑centric, stateful environments such as SQL debugging. It introduces a four‑stage curriculum that alternates between improving agent reasoning and trajectory‑adaptive exploration, and relies on a Trajectory‑scoped Persistent Execution Infrastructure to safely reuse database replicas while maintaining trajectory isolation. This approach yields a 12.8× improvement in spatial efficiency and enables 7B and 14B models to achieve competitive success rates on the BIRD‑CRITIC‑SQLite benchmark, matching proprietary agents like Claude‑Opus‑4.6.

DualSQL: Text-to-SQL with Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning

DualSQL is a Text-to-SQL system that uses two agents sharing a single model backbone, enabling joint optimization via multi-agent reinforcement learning. The approach incorporates three database access tools for multi-step reasoning, rollout guardrails to stabilize training, and a new SQL correctness metric called robust execution match (REX). Trained on only 3,755 examples, DualSQL-4B reaches 68.0% execution accuracy on the BIRD dev set, while DualSQL-8B achieves 71.1%, surpassing prior state‑of‑the‑art single‑model solutions with 32B parameters.

LoongSage: A Production-Grade, High-Efficiency Agentic RL Framework for Frontier LLMs with Validated Recipes

LoongSage is a lightweight, fully asynchronous reinforcement learning framework designed for large language models that perform agentic tasks. It integrates with Megatron for distributed training and SGLang for high‑throughput inference, centralizing orchestration in a single controller and using Ray actors for GPU components. The framework introduces AgentFlow for unified execution of white‑box and black‑box agents, sliding‑window strategies to limit trajectory staleness, TransferMesh for efficient weight synchronization, and a memory‑efficient Teacher Manager that supports multi‑teacher on‑policy distillation. Experiments across four training runs show steady reward improvement, controlled train‑inference gaps, and sustained hardware utilization by eliminating synchronous idle periods.

ReFlow: Replay-Driven Decoupling for Efficient RL Post-Training

ReFlow is a system‑algorithm co‑designed framework for efficient reinforcement learning (RL) post‑training of large language models (LLMs). It introduces replay‑driven decoupling, allowing recent trajectories to be reused multiple times to amortize rollout costs while limiting policy staleness. The architecture features a dual replay cycle, an elastic resource pool, and an adaptive scheduler, achieving up to 2.06× higher training throughput compared to existing synchronous and asynchronous RL systems without sacrificing model performance.

AgentFly: Scaling Agentic Reinforcement Learning with Unified Resource System

AgentFly is an agentic reinforcement learning framework that introduces a unified resource layer to manage heterogeneous environments—such as sandboxes, model services, and external APIs—through a single scheduling engine. The framework is organized into four layers: an agent layer that abstracts agents, tools, and rewards; a rollout layer that composes agent loops and computes rewards; a context layer that organizes rollouts and injects contextual information; and a low‑level resource layer that handles resource management. AgentFly offers prebuilt tools and environments, demonstrates successful agent training across multiple tasks and models, and provides the first controlled cross‑framework throughput comparison against other agentic RL frameworks.

Agent0: Unleashing Self-Evolving Agents from Zero Data via Tool-Integrated Reasoning

Agent0 is a fully autonomous framework that enables large language model agents to evolve without external data by using a multi‑step co‑evolution process. It pits a curriculum agent against an executor agent, both derived from the same base LLM, where the curriculum agent creates increasingly challenging tasks and the executor learns to solve them. By integrating external tools into the executor’s workflow, the system creates a self‑reinforcing cycle that continuously generates high‑quality curricula, leading to significant gains in reasoning performance—an 18% improvement on mathematical reasoning and 24% on general reasoning for the Qwen3‑8B‑Base model.

UnifiedPlayers: Enhance Tool-Integrated Reasoning in Agentic Reinforcement Learning

UnifiedPlayers is a cooperative framework that jointly adapts planning, execution, and evaluation for tool-integrated reinforcement learning agents. It consists of a Planning Player that generates tasks, an Execution Player that creates multi-turn trajectories with Python tool calls, and an Evaluation Player that builds executable verifiers, all coordinated by role‑specific rewards under GRPO. The approach outperforms prior baselines on mathematical and general reasoning benchmarks and yields a verifier with high adversarial detection accuracy and more discriminative reward signals.

In-the-Flow Agentic System Optimization for Effective Planning and Tool Use

arXiv:2510. 05592v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Outcome-driven reinforcement learning has advanced reasoning in large language models (LLMs), but prevailing tool-augmented approaches train a single, monolithic policy that interleaves thoughts and tool calls under full context; this scales poorly with long horizons and diverse tools and generalizes weakly to new scenarios.

SERL-SQL: Selective Hindsight Distillation for Text-to-SQL Reinforcement Agentic Learning

SERL‑SQL introduces a selective execution‑grounded reinforcement learning framework for multi‑turn Text‑to‑SQL agents. It samples on‑policy interaction trajectories and employs a training‑only teacher to re‑score student actions using execution feedback, converting the teacher‑student likelihood gap into bounded, masked weights that reweight GRPO advantages only on SQL and tool‑action tokens. Experiments on BIRD, Spider, and cross‑domain benchmarks show competitive performance, achieving 76.56% execution accuracy on BIRD‑Dev and 89.92% on Spider‑Test, and the reward‑based selection strategy approaches the oracle Best‑of‑N upper bound.
