Beyond Watching and Searching: Benchmarking Agents for Video-centered Deep Research Reports

The paper introduces Video‑Centered Deep Research Report Generation, a new benchmark that evaluates agents on their ability to generate long, interactive research reports from a source video and user request. It presents the OmniDR‑Bench dataset with 50 tasks in Chinese and English, 19 subcategories, and 6,414 criteria, and proposes Omni Atomic Rubric Trees (Omni‑ARTs) for evaluation across audiovisual grounding, multimodal evidence use, and interactive presentation. The authors also detail a skill‑based workflow, an automated rubric construction process, and report that current agents achieve a best score of 63.3/100, highlighting gaps in content coverage, causal analysis, and citation accuracy.

AdaVDR: Adaptive Tool Use and Reflection for Video Deep Research

AdaVDR is an adaptive video deep research agent that selects and reflects on tool usage based on the task and the model’s capabilities. It constructs a specialized data pipeline to generate high‑quality QA pairs and uses model‑conditioned filtering to remove unnecessary tool calls. The agent is trained with supervised fine‑tuning and reinforcement learning, achieving top performance on the VDR‑EE benchmark and significant gains on VideoDR.

AgentVidBench: A Multi-Hop Video Question Answering Benchmark for Evaluating MLLM Agents

AgentVidBench is a new multi‑hop video question‑answering benchmark designed to evaluate spatial, temporal, and causal reasoning in multimodal large language models (MLLMs). Unlike existing tests that focus on simple scene queries or global summaries, AgentVidBench includes step‑by‑step solution traces to assess whether agents gather the necessary evidence to justify their answers. Experiments with 12 MLLMs show limited single‑turn performance, but integrating these models into agentic workflows improves both accuracy and trajectory scores, establishing AgentVidBench as a comprehensive testbed for future research on agentic video understanding.

DeepResearch Bench II: Diagnosing Deep Research Agents via Rubrics from Expert Reports

Deep Research Bench II is a new benchmark designed to evaluate Deep Research Agents (DRAs) by requiring them to produce research reports for 132 grounded tasks across 22 domains. Each report is assessed using 9,430 fine‑grained binary rubrics that cover information recall, analysis, and presentation, all derived from expert‑written investigative articles through a rigorous LLM‑plus‑human pipeline. Evaluation of current state‑of‑the‑art DRAs shows that even the best models satisfy fewer than 50% of these rubrics, highlighting a significant gap between automated agents and human experts.

Agentic Video Understanding: A Survey

The paper surveys emerging video understanding agents that use video as the primary source and actively decide what information to inspect, retain, verify, and act upon. It formalizes an agent loop for video understanding and organizes the literature through a challenge‑to‑design taxonomy linking context bottlenecks, evidence sparsity, temporal causality, and multimodal ambiguity to corresponding design solutions. The survey also reviews state‑space paradigms, learning paradigms, supervision signals, benchmarks, evaluation protocols, and outlines open directions toward agentic‑native temporal modeling and video‑native agents.

OneSearch-VL: Unified Multimodal Deep Research Agent for Image and Video

OneSearch‑VL is a unified multimodal deep research agent that handles single‑image, multi‑image, and video tasks by leveraging a Visually Grounded Evidence Graph (VGEG) to encode dependencies among visual anchors, entity relations, facts, and answer‑producing operations. The VGEG‑based data engine builds and verifies questions, filters expert trajectories, and supports supervised fine‑tuning (SFT) and reinforcement learning (RL) with the Evidence‑aware Visual‑Grounded Rubric reward (EVGR). Experiments demonstrate that OneSearch‑VL‑8B outperforms Qwen3‑VL‑8B with tool access by 20.2 and 17.6 percentage points on new multimodal benchmarks, while also achieving significant gains across seven image benchmarks and VideoDR.

Mr.LHDR: A Benchmark for Multimodal Real-World Long-Horizon Deep Research Agents

Mr.LHDR is a new benchmark designed to evaluate deep research agents on long‑horizon, multimodal tasks. It presents questions built from hidden Node‑Relation graphs that require an average of 12.1 intermediate conclusions and a mean dependency depth of 10.4 before arriving at a single verifiable answer. The benchmark tests both final answers and the correctness of intermediate conclusions, using metrics such as Overall Accuracy, Strict Accuracy, Checklist Score, and Dependency‑Aware Checklist Score.

VideoWeaver: Evaluating and Evolving Skills for Agentic Long Video Generation

VideoWeaver is an agent harness and benchmark for long‑video generation that evaluates and evolves reusable skills. It allows an agent to dynamically compose foundation skills into a workflow based on a single high‑level instruction, rather than following a static pipeline. The benchmark includes 16 task categories and 285 cases with multimodal references, and an evidence‑grounded agent‑as‑judge inspects execution traces and final videos to guide skill evolution, improving both process and output quality.
