Intent Graph: Navigating the Analytical Reasoning Space for Exploratory Data Analysis

The paper introduces DAG-EDA, a system that pairs an intent graph and a multi-layered knowledge graph to help analysts navigate exploratory data analysis. The intent graph, driven by a grammar of analytical intent, breaks down ambiguous natural-language questions into concrete analysis tasks while preserving alternative paths for branching and comparison. The knowledge graph externalizes domain knowledge from a large language model, linking concepts to dataset variables so analysts can inspect and challenge how their questions map to data, with results displayed as interactive dashboards.

AdaLens: Interactive Storyline for Monitoring and Steering Long-Running Agentic Data Analysis

AdaLens is an interactive system designed to monitor and steer long-running, autonomous data analysis workflows powered by large language models. It provides a storyline-based interface that unifies analytical plans, execution progress, intermediate findings, and data-column involvement, enabling analysts to observe evolving reasoning and evidence. The system also offers steering interactions that allow users to redirect low-value directions or deepen promising ones during execution.

Open Tabular Insight Extraction: Where Do We Stand, and Where Should We Go?

The paper introduces Open Tabular Insight Extraction (OpenTI), a unified framework aimed at democratizing access to insights from large table corpora. It highlights how current research is fragmented across domains like table QA, text‑to‑SQL, and data analysis agents, and shows that existing systems and benchmarks fall short of covering the full end‑to‑end scope of OpenTI. The authors propose a consolidated terminology, conduct a systematic review, and outline a research agenda for developing comprehensive OpenTI systems, evaluation methods, and interaction paradigms.

DataSTORM: Deep Research on Large-Scale Databases using Exploratory Data Analysis and Data Storytelling

DataSTORM is an LLM‑based agentic system designed to conduct deep research over large‑scale structured databases and internet sources. It applies principles of Exploratory Data Analysis and Data Storytelling to frame research as a thesis‑driven analytical process, iteratively generating hypotheses, performing quantitative reasoning, and crafting coherent narratives. Evaluations on InsightBench and a new ACLED‑based dataset show that DataSTORM surpasses existing systems, achieving significant improvements in insight‑level recall and summary‑level scores.

Tytan: Interactive Neurosymbolic Construction of Analytic Semantic Schemas from Relational Data

arXiv:2608. 06331v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: From natural-language query interfaces to automated report generation, data analysis tools need a description of the data: the real-world entities it contains, which columns function as measures or identifiers, and how tables connect into units of analysis.

VeriGraph: Towards Verifiable Data-Analytic Agents

arXiv:2606. 16603v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: LLM-based agents have demonstrated strong capabilities in data-intensive analytical tasks, yet their outputs are rarely verifiable: a reliance on linear text trajectories makes their reasoning difficult to audit.
