The paper introduces GLANCE, a one‑pass block drafting method that enables lossless speculative decoding for vision‑language models. By using a block‑diffusion head that reads the fused vision‑language state, GLANCE eliminates the need for the drafter to process the image at every step, allowing it to fill an entire block in a single forward pass. Experiments show that GLANCE can decode up to 2.93× faster than autoregressive decoding while maintaining exact greedy decoding results across multiple tasks.
Jina-OCR-v1 is an end‑to‑end document parsing model designed for low‑budget GPUs, combining a compressed‑vision encoder with a 3B mixture‑of‑experts decoder that activates about 570 M parameters per token. It uses a FastMTP speculative decoding head that shares a single draft block across three prediction steps, with greedy verification ensuring lossless decoding. Post‑training includes instruction alignment, robustness fine‑tuning on difficult documents, and GRPO with dense verifiable rewards, achieving 91.14 on OmniDocBench v1.6 and 83.4 on olmOCR‑Bench while delivering the highest page throughput at 2.57 pages per second on an NVIDIA L4 GPU.

Speculative decoding losslessly accelerates autoregressive language models by verifying multiple draft tokens in parallel. Diffusion-based drafters further reduce proposal latency by predicting an entire token block in parallel, but their position-wise distributions are marginal rather than conditioned on tokens selected along each draft path.

arXiv:2606. 03819v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: One-shot block drafters for speculative decoding generate the full draft in a single forward pass, achieving strong throughput by eliminating sequential token generation.
