arXiv:2512. 07355v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Two traditions of interpretability have evolved side by side but seldom spoken to each other: Concept Bottleneck Models (CBMs), which prescribe what a concept should be, and Sparse Autoencoders (SAEs), which discover what concepts emerge.
arXiv:2604.17614v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Skills are a natural unit for describing what a language model can do and how its behavior can be changed. However, existing characterization...
arXiv:2607. 00341v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Large language models achieve strong performance on many reasoning tasks when allowed to externalize intermediate steps as Chain-of-Thought (CoT).
A*-Thought-V2 is a framework that models Chain-of-Thought reasoning as a geometric trajectory in a 3D PCA space, using explicit-implicit latent tokens to compress steps that deviate from the main question-to-solution direction. The method measures alignment angles to decide which steps remain text and which become latent, and introduces stepwise embedding forcing and label forcing to train the architecture. Experiments on Qwen models show up to 2.6% accuracy gains, halved response length, and significant reductions in computation and training time.
arXiv:2607. 08605v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Sparse autoencoders (SAEs) have emerged as a promising technique for mechanistic interpretability by learning a set of sparse latent features in large models, each of which encodes a distinct concept.
arXiv:2609.25438v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Diverse pretraining has been shown to be an effective method for learning reusable, domain-aware representations that provide a starting point for fine...
