X-AVDD: Cross-Attentive Audio-Visual Dataset Distillation

X-AVDD is a cross‑attention‑based audio‑visual dataset distillation method that explicitly models inter‑modal relationships during synthesis. By decoupling cross‑modal alignment from joint optimization, it reduces memory usage and end‑to‑end GPU‑hour cost by about eight times while producing highly aligned synthetic data. Empirical results show significant performance gains over prior methods, improving top‑1 test accuracy on VGGSound from 8.2 % to 24.0 % at 10 samples‑per‑class and enabling efficient scaling to complex architectures such as AudioCLIP.

Open-Vocabulary Audio-Visual Event Localization via Complex-Valued Fusion

The paper introduces a novel four‑stream complex‑valued architecture for Open‑Vocabulary Audio‑Visual Event Localization (OV‑AVEL). By embedding visual, audio, and textual modalities into a shared space and computing complex‑valued similarities—real parts from standard embeddings and imaginary parts from companion streams (iHSV for vision and CycleGAN‑translated phase for audio)—the method learns fusion via a complex‑valued neural network while keeping encoders frozen. This approach achieves new state‑of‑the‑art results on OV‑AVEBench and a modified AVE dataset, outperforming previous fine‑tuned baselines by significant margins. "whyItMatters":"The proposed complex‑valued fusion strategy demonstrates that incorporating phase information and learning fusion in the complex domain can substantially improve open‑vocabulary event localization performance, setting new benchmarks for the task."

Audio-Visual Continual Test-Time Adaptation without Forgetting

arXiv:2602. 18528v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Audio-visual continual test-time adaptation involves continually adapting a source audio-visual model at test-time, to unlabeled non-stationary domains, where either or both modalities can be distributionally shifted, which hampers online cross-modal learning and eventually leads to poor accuracy.

Empowering Long-form Omni-modal Understanding with Robust Audio Perception

arXiv:2607. 10299v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Recent advances in large-scale multimodal models have drivenremarkable progress in vision-language tasks; however, comprehensiveomni-modal understanding remains under-explored, largely due to thescarcity of datasets with rich, explicitly aligned auditory cues.

PRISM: Self-Pruning Intrinsic Selection Method for Training-Free Multimodal Data Selection

PRISM is a training‑free framework that efficiently selects visual instruction data for multimodal large language models by addressing the anisotropy in visual feature distributions, which causes a Global Semantic Drift. By implicitly re‑centering visual semantics, PRISM removes the influence of global background features, cutting data‑selection and model‑tuning time to 30% of conventional pipelines while improving performance across eight multimodal and three language benchmarks, achieving a 101.7% relative gain over baseline models.

TUTTI: Toward generalizable audio-to-score transcription via fully synthesized data

TUTTI is a new pre‑training framework for audio‑to‑score transcription that uses a large, fully synthetic multi‑instrument dataset generated by a symbolic music model. The approach trains a standard Transformer encoder‑decoder on these synthetic audio‑score pairs, producing a stronger foundational representation than single‑instrument training. When fine‑tuned on real datasets, TUTTI surpasses prior methods, achieving state‑of‑the‑art results and demonstrating strong cross‑instrument transferability.

X-AuT: Progressive Audio-Encoder Compression for Speech LLMs with Cross-Scale Distillation

X-AuT is a progressive framework for compressing the audio encoder of speech large language models. It selects layer combinations via short behavioral probes and restores performance through representation alignment, cross‑scale distillation, scheduled student‑policy supervision, and LoRA finetuning, while keeping the language‑model backbone frozen. On ten Chinese–English benchmarks, reducing Qwen3‑ASR‑0.6B’s encoder from 18 to 16 layers lowers macro‑average error from 5.61% to 5.27%, and a 14‑layer model achieves 5.75% error with 20.7% fewer parameters.

UniAE-MoE: A Unified Audio Encoder via Mixture of Experts

UniAE-MoE is a unified audio encoder that uses a Mixture-of-Experts architecture to model cross‑domain audio representations. It integrates encoder components from Qwen2‑Audio and Audio‑Flamingo 3, enhances them with SwiGLU and shared experts, and applies a two‑stage instruction‑tuning strategy along with task‑specific data scaling. The model achieves state‑of‑the‑art results on the XARES‑LLM benchmark (0.802) and tops the Interspeech 2026 Audio Encoder Capability Challenge, demonstrating strong generalization across speech, music, and general audio tasks.

Modality-Gated Deep Adapters: Adding a Modality to a Frozen Embedding Model with Exact Preservation

The paper introduces modality‑gated deep adapters, a parameter‑efficient method for adding new modalities to a frozen multimodal embedding language model without altering its existing outputs. These adapters are bottleneck modules attached to each decoder layer, grouped into modality‑specific packs that activate only during encoding of their own modality, ensuring exact preservation of the base model’s computation graph. Experiments on a 2B base model show significant gains in audio‑to‑text and thermal‑to‑text retrieval metrics, and the authors release the audio and thermal packs along with training and evaluation code.
