While few-step distilled text-to-image models have gained traction due to their fast generation times, the speed-up implications on their unsafe generation rates remain unknown. We uncover an inherent...
arXiv:2606. 15819v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: The rapid progress of visual autoregressive (VAR) models has unlocked a transformative frontier for high-fidelity text-to-image synthesis, while heightening concerns over the safety alignment of generated content.

The paper introduces GUARD, a method for natural forgetting in large reasoning models that transforms unsafe disclosures into safe-exit trajectories using guided answer‑reasoning distillation. It aligns a frozen model with guidance tokens and distills this behavior into the parameters, aiming for a coherent, non‑disclosing chain of thought followed by a refusal‑style answer. The authors also propose the Natural Forgetting Reasoning Score (NFRS) to evaluate structural stability, fluency, and unsupported substitutes, and demonstrate GUARD’s effectiveness on R‑TOFU and a STAR‑1‑derived harmful‑intent setting.

The paper presents a preference-driven unlearning framework for few-step distilled text-to-image diffusion models. It identifies that standard Direct Preference Optimization (DPO) fails on these models due to altered generation dynamics and proposes a modified formulation aligned with few-step properties. The method enables direct concept removal while preserving desirable capabilities, and is evaluated on identity, NSFW, and object-level unlearning tasks with strong forgetting and retention results.

arXiv:2607. 13124v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Structured pruning is a hardware-friendly way to compress LLMs, but it is mostly validated on multiple-choice recognition tasks, while the same compressed checkpoints can collapse on the free-form generation that deployment actually requires.

arXiv:2603. 11784v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: As scaling laws push the training of frontier large language models (LLMs) toward ever-growing data requirements, training pipelines are approaching a regime where much of the publicly available online text may be consumed.

The paper investigates how machine unlearning for large language models (LLMs) can unintentionally erase related knowledge, even in distant domains. By analyzing the propagation of unlearning effects before any model updates, the authors discover a consistent decay pattern where collateral damage is strongest near the targeted forget set and diminishes with semantic distance but never fully disappears at domain boundaries. They propose a pre-unlearning prediction task—forget-set auditing—to identify potential collateral damage early, finding that interaction features between the forget set and evaluation set are the most predictive signals. This approach offers an early warning system for risky unlearning runs and guides the design of more reliable unlearning procedures.

RASteer is a training‑free method for concept erasure in text‑to‑image diffusion models that retains other concepts. It constructs a retain subspace from concepts to preserve, then removes components aligned with this subspace from the erasure direction using Retain‑Orthogonal Steering (ROS). Overlap‑Adaptive Calibration (OAC) further adjusts the removal of shared components at each layer and denoising step, balancing target erasure with concept preservation. Experiments show RASteer matches or outperforms existing activation steering and weight editing baselines on unsafe‑content, instance, and artistic‑style erasure tasks across multiple backbones and benchmarks.

The paper introduces AVCE, a method for verifiable concept erasure in diffusion models that audits latent representations to identify vulnerable directions and then edits cross‑attention and self‑attention projections in closed form. By fine‑tuning with pathway‑level auditing losses and orthogonal gradient projection, AVCE reduces attack success rates by 5.07× and improves auditing scores by 3.84× compared to the best baseline while maintaining generation quality.

Text-to-image diffusion models are increasingly distilled into few-step variants and being deployed to enable fast inference. However, their ability to generate harmful or undesired content poses sign...
GRACE is a new framework for concept erasure in text-to-image diffusion models that uses a semantically weighted sensitive subspace to guide localized interventions and lightweight subspace-constrained adapters to avoid global semantic disruption. It replaces manual counterfactual prompts with an automatically decoupled safe-anchor mechanism and controls intervention strength through an energy-driven dynamic gating system. Experiments show GRACE improves NSFW reduction by 17.86% over five state-of-the-art methods while also reducing target CLIP Score and FID, indicating stronger concept suppression with better preservation of generative quality.
