Planning under Noise with Neural Operators

The paper introduces Planning Under Noise (PUN), a neural operator that learns noise‑aware value fields for planning in unseen geometries. By imposing reflecting Neumann conditions on obstacles and a Dirichlet condition at the goal, PUN allows sampled paths to explore free space until reaching the target. It extends the Monte Carlo solver Walk on Stars to higher dimensions, learns geometry‑to‑field mappings from noisy labels, and achieves high success rates and low runtimes on 4‑D replanning benchmarks across multiple noise levels.

Real-Time Motion Planning with Dynamic Hazards: Classical vs. Learning-Based Methods

The paper compares classical motion planners with learning-based methods for real-time navigation in environments with dynamic hazards, using a unified benchmark that includes identical settings and metrics. In deterministic scenarios, classical planners achieve near-perfect success and high-quality paths, though they can incur significant planning time. When obstacle dynamics are stochastic, classical planners become highly budget-sensitive, whereas PPO-trained policies consistently deliver better latency, success rates, and path quality.

Training-Free Diffusion Planning with Analytical Local Scores

The paper presents a training-free diffusion-based motion planner that replaces learned global trajectory scores with analytical local scores derived from obstacle, smoothness, velocity, and inter-agent feasibility terms. By reconstructing trajectory scores through local interactions between neighboring waypoints and nearby constraints, the method decomposes the denoising process while preserving the optimization structure of classical trajectory methods. Experiments demonstrate that this approach generates smooth, feasible trajectories for large multi-agent tasks in complex environments quickly, outperforming learning-based and optimization baselines without requiring training data.

HorizonFlow: Variable-Length Planning for Offline Goal-Conditioned RL

HorizonFlow is a hierarchical planner for offline goal-conditioned reinforcement learning that treats the planning horizon as an output rather than a fixed input. It uses a subgoal route planner and an action-prefix controller, both employing insertion-based generation and flow matching, to jointly generate continuous plan content and its length. The method leverages the partially generated plan to guide token insertion and to steer generation toward shorter plans, achieving superior performance on Maze2D, Multi2D, and OGBench benchmarks.

GEM-MPC: Balancing Exploration and Exploitation through Expert-Guided Planning

GEM-MPC is a reinforcement learning method that blends MPPI planning with policy learning to balance exploration and exploitation in high-dimensional continuous control tasks. It trains a policy to clone the planner while also maintaining a KL-regularized policy that explores around the planner’s suggestions, thereby improving the synergy between planning and learning. The approach introduces Gated Prior Distillation, which selectively updates policies from stored planning distributions only when they offer better targets, reducing the influence of stale data without costly reanalysis. Across continuous-control benchmarks, GEM-MPC outperforms existing planning-based baselines while using lower computational budgets.
