RSI-Opt introduces Recursive Self-Improvement Optimizer Agents that evolve their own training policies by accumulating knowledge from previous runs, including prompts, playbooks, optimizer code, and decision cadences. A meta‑agent rewrites and archives these policies, enabling reusable procedures and code that adapt to new tasks. Across multiple generations and tasks, RSI‑Opt improves optimizer performance, achieving higher z‑scores on evolution suites, better cross‑model transfer, and significant error reductions on PDE benchmarks compared to fixed‑prompt baselines.

RSIFlow is a recursive self‑improvement framework that combines adaptive workflow orchestration with a meta‑agent that evolves its own harness. It diagnoses performance bottlenecks from task‑agent trajectories and environmental feedback, then dynamically selects component‑specific improvement workflows. Experiments on six benchmarks and two backbone models show that RSIFlow achieves state‑of‑the‑art average performance, with ablation studies confirming the benefits of adaptive orchestration and meta‑harness evolution.

The paper introduces AIDE^2, an AI research agent that recursively improves its own code by proposing, benchmarking, and selecting modifications. Over an eight‑day autonomous run, it achieved seven successive improvements—including new search policies and memory mechanisms—that transferred to four held‑out benchmarks in machine learning, algorithm engineering, and weather forecasting. The agent’s best version matched or outperformed a top human‑engineered production research agent and also reduced reward‑hacking rates, despite never optimizing for that metric.

The paper introduces Repo-To-Skill, a method for converting GitHub repositories into reusable AI skills. By distilling operational knowledge from over 1,000 machine‑learning repositories, the authors build the AREX‑Skill Library with more than 5,000 verified skills across 20 areas. Integrating these skills into a research agent—DisCo—yields significant performance boosts on multiple benchmarks, demonstrating the value of reusable, task‑agnostic knowledge.

SkillNEO introduces a non‑elitist evolutionary framework for refining agent skills, allowing lower‑reward versions to receive further edits and preserve useful partial repairs. By separating the selection of a version to use from the selection of versions to improve, the method identifies which steps to keep and which failures to fix, even revisiting earlier versions with new evidence. Experiments on 86 SkillsBench tasks across eight domains show significant reward gains for GPT‑5.4 Mini and substantial improvements when the evolved skills are reused by stronger models such as GPT‑5.5 and GPT‑5.6 Luna.
