LatticeMind: A Validation-Gated Agentic Framework for Density Functional Theory Workflows

LatticeMind is a validation‑gated, agentic framework that translates natural‑language requests into executable density functional theory (DFT) workflows. It uses workflow contracts to specify required stages, files, and dependencies, deterministic validators to check projects before solver launch, and bounded repair to fix failures, ensuring traceable reports linked to project files. On benchmarks spanning 44 RESCU and 19 VASP cases, LatticeMind reproduced all reference values, with 119 of 132 runs succeeding on the first validated plan and the rest after a single repair cycle, outperforming a conventional trial‑and‑repair baseline. whyItMatters":"The framework demonstrates that incorporating pre‑execution validation and repair can reliably prevent costly errors in multistage DFT workflows, making AI‑assisted scientific computing more trustworthy and efficient."

DREAMS: Density Functional Theory Based Research Engine for Agentic Materials Simulation

arXiv:2507. 14267v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Large language model (LLM) agents can execute long-horizon scientific workflows, but their numerical outputs are difficult to trust: agents lose context, game verification checks, and can produce large volumes of plausible yet invalid results.

AutoDFT: A Closed-Loop Multi-Agent Framework for Autonomous DFT Calculations

arXiv:2605. 26179v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Density functional theory (DFT) serves as the basis for computational discovery in materials science and chemistry, yet each calculation demands extensive human effort: adjusting algorithms when convergence stalls, revising plans when unexpected physics emerges, and inserting steps as intermediate results reshape the problem.

OpenAl4S: Code as Action, Science as Sessions

OpenAI4S is an open‑source scientific research agent that treats code as action and science as sessions, combining a persistent computing runtime with structured session management. It uses tool calls for orchestration, executes code cells in persistent Python and R kernels, and records an append‑only Action Ledger, per‑cell execution logs, versioned artifacts, environment snapshots, and workspace checkpoints to preserve provenance and enable session recovery, branching, and extension. Evaluated on 36 research scenarios—including retrosynthesis, molecular dynamics, and protein design—OpenAI4S achieved a higher overall score (7.83) than a general‑purpose coding harness, especially on long‑horizon, computation‑intensive workflows, though reproducibility remains an open challenge. whyItMatters":"The system demonstrates that persistent execution coupled with session‑level provenance can enhance the reliability of AI‑assisted scientific workflows, as evidenced by its superior performance across diverse research scenarios."

MatOS: An Agent Operating System for Materials Research

MatOS is an agent operating system designed to streamline materials research by organizing data, knowledge, tools, and workflows into reusable assets. It features a layered scientific asset graph, a stateful adaptive workflow that tracks and resumes tasks, and an evidence-driven asset evolution mechanism that updates assets based on execution records and user feedback. In benchmark tests, MatOS outperforms existing agents and has successfully narrowed millions of candidate structures to a few promising solid-electrolyte and halide variants, demonstrating its effectiveness in long, multistage materials studies.

Beyond Executable Models: The Pufibara Agent Harness and the Modelica Agent Workflow Benchmark for Physical System Modeling

The paper introduces Pufibara, an agent harness designed to maintain engineering state and evidence across revisions in Modelica-based physical system modeling. It also presents a 232-task Modelica Agent Workflow Benchmark covering model repair, generation, and tuning, evaluated by an external benchmark-owned evaluator. Experiments show Pufibara outperforms Claude Code in task success and resource efficiency across two LLM backends.
