Transfer Learning of Multiobjective Indirect Low-Thrust Trajectories Using Diffusion Models and Markov Chain Monte Carlo

The paper presents a transfer‑learning framework that combines homotopy in mission parameters with Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) to generate training data more efficiently for indirect low‑thrust trajectory optimization. By reformulating the multiobjective problem as sampling from an unnormalized target distribution in costate space, the authors compare three MCMC algorithms on a planar multi‑revolution transfer in the circular restricted three‑body problem, finding that gradient‑based variants offer the best trade‑off between sample quality and computational cost. The resulting MCMC samples are used to fine‑tune a diffusion model conditioned on the mass parameter, enabling the model to learn a global representation of the solution distribution and produce new high‑quality solutions, ultimately yielding 40 % more feasible solutions and a superior Pareto front compared to a state‑of‑the‑art indirect approach.

Reachability-Informed Reinforcement Learning for Multi-Impulse Interplanetary Transfers

The paper introduces Reachability Analysis-Informed Reinforcement Learning (RARL) for designing deterministic multi‑impulse interplanetary transfers. RARL uses local first‑order reachability maps to bound velocity perturbations and selects intermediate waypoints, which are then translated into maneuvers via Lambert reconstruction and a terminal two‑impulse solution. Numerical experiments on an Earth‑Mars benchmark show that RARL achieves a mean maneuver cost only 1.72% above a validated convex programming reference and can be trained once to handle a wide range of departure states, achieving 100% feasibility on 10,000 held‑out Monte Carlo departures.

SABLE: Scalable Affine Bayesian Latent-space Exploration

SABLE is a Bayesian optimisation method designed for high‑dimensional latent spaces where the latent dimension far exceeds the evaluation budget. It uses a Bayesian affine surrogate that decomposes each query into an in‑span component optimized by expected improvement and an off‑span component governed by a scalar norm, with a finite‑horizon schedule to avoid under‑exploration. A recompression scheme reduces the number of pseudo‑observations to ≠O(M), keeping refitting costs manageable while achieving high sample efficiency and rapid decision times on synthetic and latent‑space optimisation tasks.
