VGA‑BenchV2 is an expanded, human‑aligned benchmark and optimization framework that jointly evaluates video generation quality and aesthetic value. It builds on the original VGA‑Bench taxonomy, adding 52 sub‑dimensions and 1,016 curated prompts to generate over 60,000 videos from 12 mainstream models. The benchmark significantly enlarges human supervision with 36,000 task‑level annotations and introduces a hybrid evaluator (VAQA‑Net, VTag‑Net, VGQA‑Net) that aligns well with human judgments and can be used as a reward model for reinforcement‑learning fine‑tuning.

AesCanvas is a new dataset and benchmark that evaluates image aesthetic models on two fronts: CritiqueCanvas, which contains 519,136 instruction–response pairs for long‑form, multi‑dimensional critique across photography, painting, and virtual imagery, and ContextCanvas, which offers 301 expert‑reviewed use scenarios to assess contextual aesthetic suitability. The benchmark tests closed‑source, open‑weight general, and aesthetic‑specific multimodal large language models, revealing that models excel at critique generation but lag in context‑sensitive judgment. The study shows that aesthetic specialization does not reliably transfer to contextual suitability and highlights the need for culturally situated, evidence‑grounded suitability as a distinct objective for aesthetic modeling.

Traditional Image Aesthetic Assessment (IAA) methods mainly rely on regressing absolute Mean Opinion Scores (MOS). However, such a paradigm overlooks the inherently dynamic nature of human aesthetic perception, which relies on subconscious comparison against implicit visual references.

Recent advances in unified multimodal models have significantly improved text-guided image editing abilities. In particular, models such as Nano-Banana-Pro and GPT-Image-2 demonstrate emerging capabilities in multi-source image editing (MIE), including tasks such as object synthesis, person-background composition, and cross-image style fusion.
CompArt introduces a new approach to aesthetic alignment in text-to-image generation by using the Principles of Art (PoA) such as Balance, Rhythm, and Emphasis to define explicit compositional constraints. The authors create a large dataset of 80,032 WikiArt images, each annotated with PoA analyses generated by a multimodal LLM, and present ArtDapter, a lightweight adapter that steers a pretrained diffusion model along ten PoA dimensions while preserving semantic fidelity. Experiments demonstrate that CompArt outperforms strong baselines in adhering to PoA controls under a dual evaluation protocol.
