Diffusion models have strong generative capabilities. However, their maximum likelihood training objective only focuses on reconstructing the data distribution, making it difficult to align with specific preferences.
The paper introduces DEEPO, a Dual-Entropy Enhanced Policy Optimization method designed to mitigate hallucination in multimodal large language models (MLLMs). It addresses two weaknesses in reinforcement learning: (1) hard queries with high semantic entropy produce uniformly wrong samples, erasing advantage signals, and (2) confident-but-wrong tokens become invisible to gradients as the policy sharpens. DEEPO combines semantic‑entropy‑triggered expert prefixes to inject grounded continuations and Renyi preconditioning to counter logit saturation, yielding significant hallucination reduction while maintaining accuracy and training stability.

The paper introduces Difficulty‑Aware Semantic‑ID Optimization (DASO), a post‑training method for generative recommendation that improves tree‑structured item ranking. DASO profiles rollout groups by prefix‑match depth, reallocates a portion of candidates to prefix‑guided completions, and uses a SID‑prefix reward with an auxiliary SFT anchor to address target‑missing failures. On public benchmarks, DASO outperforms MiniOneRec‑style GRPO on 11 of 12 metrics and achieves the best results on 9 of 12 metrics, also improving level‑wise recall on an internal recommendation task.

The paper introduces the Implicit Prefix-Value Reward Model (IPVRM), which learns the probability of eventual correctness for each prefix directly from outcome labels, thereby aligning training targets with inference-time step signals via temporal-difference differences. IPVRM improves step-verification F1 on ProcessBench. Additionally, the authors propose Distribution-Level RL (DistRL), a policy optimization method that applies TD advantages to both sampled and high-probability tokens, offering dense counterfactual updates without extra rollouts, and show that DistRL consistently enhances downstream reasoning when combined with IPVRM.

Reinforcement learning (RL) is widely used to sharpen reasoning in multimodal large language models (MLLMs), yet its effect on hallucination is uneven. We trace this to two weak points in the \emph{co...
