An Analytically Trained Variational Surrogate for Quantum Phase Estimation on NISQ Hardware

arXiv:2607. 20943v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Quantum Phase Estimation (QPE) is a foundational algorithm for molecular ground-state energy estimation, but its deep circuit requirements make direct hardware execution impractical on Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) devices.

Energy Accuracy Is Not Enough: A Structure-Aware Benchmark and Evaluation Protocol for Quantum Architecture Search

The paper introduces HamQASBench, a structure‑aware benchmark for quantum architecture search that includes eleven molecular Hamiltonians up to fourteen qubits, exact references, and a comprehensive evaluation protocol. The protocol combines energy accuracy, success rates, reference‑relative circuit cost, local entropy profiles for non‑degenerate targets, and state identification within degenerate ground subspaces. Experiments with five methods across four search paradigms show that energy‑only comparisons miss important differences, such as varying gate counts, distinct spin components in degenerate cases, and differing entanglement profiles, while still achieving chemical accuracy on a near‑product instance.

HamQASBench: A Hamiltonian-Informed Diagnostic Benchmark for Evaluating Quantum Architecture Search

arXiv:2607. 04845v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Quantum Architecture Search (QAS) automates the design of parameterized quantum circuits for variational quantum algorithms, yet existing benchmarks organize instances by molecular identity or qubit count -- criteria agnostic to Hamiltonian structure -- and rely solely on energy accuracy, which cannot detect structural failures such as over-parameterization on near-product ground states.

HamQASBench: A Hamiltonian-Informed Diagnostic Benchmark for Evaluating Quantum Architecture Search

Quantum Architecture Search (QAS) automates the design of parameterized quantum circuits for variational quantum algorithms, yet existing benchmarks organize instances by molecular identity or qubit count -- criteria agnostic to Hamiltonian structure -- and rely solely on energy accuracy, which cannot detect structural failures such as over-parameterization on near-product ground states. We introduce HamQASBench, a Hamiltonian-informed diagnostic benchmark organizing 11 molecules into five structural tiers via fingerprints derived from the Pauli operator basis, computational basis representation, and ground-state entanglement.

Adaptive directional gradients for parameterised quantum circuits

arXiv:2606. 09734v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Training parameterised quantum circuits (PQCs) on quantum hardware is bottlenecked by the measurement cost of gradient estimation, which under the parameter-shift rule scales linearly in the number of trainable parameters and dominates the total shot budget of training at scale.

Generative Learning for Quantum Measurement Design

Extracting quantum information from a quantum state is a fundamental task of quantum computation, often requiring the estimation of many non-commuting observables under a finite measurement budget. For both near-term and early fault-tolerant settings, the measurement protocol must balance statistical efficiency against implementation resources such as circuit depth, connectivity, and entangling-gate count.

AutoQuREO: A Framework for Automated Quantum Resource Estimation and Optimization

As quantum computing progresses from proof-of-principle demonstrations toward practical utility, a significant impediment is the need to augment algorithmic feasibility with system-level optimization across heterogeneous hardware and software stacks. Quantum resource estimation (QRE) plays a central role in this transition, yet existing approaches remain largely compilation-heavy or domain-knowledge-guided symbolic annotations, and tightly coupled to long-term fault-tolerant assumptions, limiting their topical applicability.

Quantum Reservoir Computing: Recent Advances and Future Directions

arXiv:2607. 18552v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Quantum reservoir computing (QRC) uses the dynamics of a fixed or weakly tuned quantum system to transform temporal and sequential inputs into measured features, while training is typically confined to a classical readout.
